Are they just a meme or are is it feasible to create an actual routine predominantly using them?
They are good to have but you will need more if you want to actually get jacked. For me I started out using these and used them for like 8 months or something before I got a gym membership. I credit them for being that easy bridge to get me from DYEL fatass to actual gym goer.
Eisenlink dumbbells + bench is literally all you need. Cheapest way to get big (that's actually safe).
>>77440847You literally do not need more. Is it optimal? maybe not, but you CAN get jacked with a single adjustable dumbbell of a reasonable weight (say 70lbs)Slow, controlled, high rep, unilateral movements will get you there.
>>77440839You can get a set of weights and 2 sets of dumbbell handles for like half the price of adjustable ones.
>>77440928you will spend a million years adjusting them. god help you if you want to do a circuit. adjustables are stupidly expensive though. i have powerblocks but i kinda regret it, i already had a barbell and rack.
>>77440839They are never ideal because they can never do legs properly. No, lunges and one legged rdls are not a valid substitute for squats and actual rdls. If you do get them get the ones that are 70-75lbs minimum and ideally can be expanded up to or over 100lbs. Powerblocks, snodes, ironmasters, maybe nuobells. You'll notice those are all like $700 minimum, and for like 50% more than that you could get a rack and barbell and adjustable bench and plates instead, which is why nice adjustable dbs should be one of the later things you buy for a serious home gym. Also even if you insist on dbs first you still need a bench too. Just don't buy that op pic.
>>77440928>just buy thirty 10 pound plates>no, they all won't fit>yes, the collars will take up half the sleeve length
>>77440970>you will spend a million years adjusting themYou can do that while resting. This is a nothing burger.
>>77441230>No, lunges and one legged rdls are not a valid substitute for squats and actual rdls.He fell for the "can't replace squats and deadlift" meme.
>>77440970What? If you get a decent pair you just put them in their holder and turn the handle. It literally takes 3 seconds.
>>77441258you can't rest in a circuit tho. you'll also need two sets of change plates and a ton of 10lbs because 25+ are awkward on them. anything i do with dumbbells i want to do in a circuit personally so this isn't a small issue.>>77441383we're talking about the kind that take barbell plates. you have to load both sides and attach clips, to both handles if you want to use 2 at a time. modern fast adjustable dumbbells exist for a reason.
They’re pretty solid but sometimes adjusting can be annoying. I have a pair that goes to 52.5 and a pair that goes to 125. Get tons of use.
>>77440839>Are adjustable dumbbells legitimate tools for weightlifting and other fitness activities?Yes.They take up comparably TINY amounts of space, meet MAX weight requirements for most lifts (until "advanced" lifting is reached, and even then, only for enormous lifts), are quite common so you can find them most places, similarly go "on sale" so you can be quite happy with a lowered pricetag, and are wonderfully pleasant and easy to use making them terrific motivators to actually perform some lifts.Like most products/brands, getting poor quality merchandise can be shallow, frail & upsetting, but spending a simple afternoon looking at reviews for good quality and weights that meet your fitness standard, they are not "meme" at all. They meet postive expectations very well.
>>77440839these are pretty good, but the dumbbells are very long. makes it awkward to do certain movements.
