I lost weight by eating less and going for long walks. OP is onto something.

Friendly reminder that high insulin levels caused by dietary carbohydrates block the body's ability to burn fat for energy. This is an established scientific fact that is not up to question.

Fasting works because it creates an extremely low insulin ketogenic state, just the same as not consuming any carbs.
If you try to lose weight with a caloric deficit while keeping your insulin high, you will lose weight, but a much greater proportion of the weight lost will be muscle mass, bone density, and things other than body fat.
Carbs will also increase your weight by forcing your body to retain more water, which you can't "burn" with any caloric deficit. This will result in a skinnyfat body type.

It's ironic that this picture tries to make it so zero carb diets and fasting are opposed to each other, when in reality following a zero carb diet makes fasting incredibly easy because you're already fat adapted.

Your body uses 30% more energy to digest the equivalent amount of protein.
1000 calories of carbs isn't the same has 1000 calories of protein.

100% correct but even if you don’t eat carbs, your body will still prefer to burn dietary fat over body fat. If your goal is to lose body fat, and you’re roughly metabolically healthy, the single best thing you can do objectively is to fast and cram energy expenditure during the fast. A lot of people don’t seem to understand that low carb diets have advantages but the fat burning mechanism comes only after caloric deficit has been achieved. The simplest and shortest way to achieve that is fasting, not keto.
>>
>>77457369
Fasting literally drains your glykogen so that you will burn fat.

Precursor to Endocannabinoids: When you consume vegetable oils, the linoleic acid breaks down and acts as a primary metabolic precursor to arachidonic acid (AA).
Elevating AEA and 2-AG: Arachidonic acid is the building block for the body’s homemade cannabinoids, primarily anandamide (AEA) and 2-arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG).
Receptor Overstimulation: High levels of AEA and 2-AG circulate and bind to the CB1 receptors in the brain—the very same receptors that THC latches onto when someone smokes marijuana.

The "Endogenous" MunchiesFrom Dr. Knobbe’s perspective on metabolic disruption, an excess of vegetable oils chronically overstimulates the endocannabinoid system. This creates a low-grade, constant biological version of the "munchies"

It literally takes 15 seconds on Google to confirm it. It's one of the most basic mechanisms of how the body works.
Not my fault that you don't know and are too lazy to just Google. It's not my job to educate anons on the most basic shit over and over again.

I'm a big proponent of fasting but you have to understand that from a religious perspective, the goal is not to lose weight but to sacrifice something important to God so that He can clear your mind during intense prayer. My next fast, even if it's just 24 hours, I'm going to spend as much time praying and reading the Bible as I can.

That's weird, I looked it up and it said it slows it, but does not block it. This implies fat is still burning. There's also never a mention of a huge change in proportion of weight lost, so the amount of fat:muscle is the same, just lower in total.
The studies I'm seeing (I'm mostly using pubmed) also make a point of mentioning the significance of simply overeating - that is, eating more calories than one burns in a day, medically speaking - and it's relation to the obesity epidemic.
Additionally, when I read about highly restrictive diets like keto; carnivore; vegan; fructivore; and any other number of retarded diet fads, I see lots of people mentioning the adverse effects of people who revert off them. The biggest problem seems to be limiting food groups causing mental and physical problems, depending on the diet, that make it unsustainable as a lifestyle. The "bounce back" is usually relief from not being held to the restrictive standard, and results in binge eating. Most people seem to say eating a balanced diet, just less, is the ideal solution.
You sound like a shill.

I don't have to google it buddy. I can look around me, look at myself, and see people getting leaner while eating carbs on a daily basis. I can also realize that people have been losing weight for centuries despite eating carbs as well. Should I add that if that were the case, stored fat couldn't be used as energy at all, making the body nonfunctional and you would, well, probably just die in a week?
Unfortunately for you I don't think you can get common sense from your AI friend on google.

So why don't we just pump everyone full of insulin and solve world hunger? Since apparently that would prevent all fat loss?

the fucking media and health documentaries “experts” wants us to think that fat people have no control and that we are slaves to some kind of buology that makes not eating an impossibility cuz “muh biology/genetics” means we have to constantly eat fuckloads of food.

But get this, we have unlimited will power and we can stop eating for as long as we fucking want.

And if you have it in your head “oh im going to fail some days” YOU JUST TALKED YOURSELF INTO FAILING, you are the only one controling how much you eat.

I literally fucking overcame my extreme food addiction and those thoughts dont bother me anymore, hunger is not fucking real btw, i dont think ive ever been truly hungry, i dont actually think hunger exists its just something we tell ourselves to function in this reality and be like everyone else, well its not a good idea to be like everyone else cuz normies are fucking dysfunctional debbie downers, fuck fitting in with this fake arse reality

Gee, I wonder why sleep is usually the time of the day when we burn the most fat.
Did you also eat carbs during your 8 hours of sleep, my fellow moron?
>>77458598
I love it when people are disingenuous like you and think they're being smart.
If you injected people with insulin over and over again, their blood sugar would fall lower and lower, while also blocking fat burning, so it would KILL THEM.
Insulin overdose can cause heart attacks because it causes hypoglycemia while blocking the body's ability to use body fat for energy, which proves exactly my point.
>>77458469
CICO aka "flat calorie theory" is not a correct application of the laws of physics.
The body does not use combustion to get its energy, so quantifying the amount of food based on how much heat it releases while burned in a pure oxygen atmosphere is not a valid way to measure its effects on the organism.
I know it's very hard to understand for you, but "2,000kcal" of steak and eggs will not have the same effect as "2,000kcal" of cake, cookies and potato chips on your body.
I understand it's very difficult for you to have your religious belief in flat calorie theory challenged, but it's important to have an open mind to grow as a person. I believe in you, my fellow retard.

>If you injected people with insulin over and over again, their blood sugar would fall lower and lower, while also blocking fat burning, so it would KILL THEM.
And what causes insulin levels to fall? Do they just stay high forever after they go up? How come people don't die of insulin-induced hypoglycemia after eating only 100g of carbs?

>The body does not use combustion to get its energy,
blatantly and objectively false. A statement only a moron could utter.
>so quantifying the amount of food based on how much heat it releases while burned in a pure oxygen atmosphere is not a valid way to measure its effects on the organism.
mostly false, it's not a perfect model of metabolism, but it does elucidate the amount of energy stored in chemical bonds available for use. Those values are useful in calculations using "Hess's Law," which allows you to determine thermodynamic changes of multistep processes using more simple, easier to measure steps.
>I know it's very hard to understand for you, but "2,000kcal" of steak and eggs will not have the same effect as "2,000kcal" of cake, cookies and potato chips on your body.
Correct, that's why people who say "CICO" assume you're already eating a normal balanced diet with varied foods, because it would be retarded not to do that. Everyone knows an all-meat or an all-sugar diet are bad for you.
Are you pretending to be retarded or something?

Combustion is a chemical reaction that happens at high temperatures. 37ºC is not a temperature at which combustion is possible.
The body runs on a process called cellular respiration that has nothing to do with combustion.
I'm gonna ignore the rest of your disingenuous nonsense such as "balanced diet" (meaningless buzzword).

>Combustion is a chemical reaction that happens at high temperatures
False, combustion is a reaction of a hydrocarbon and oxygen to produce CO2 and H2O. This is the standard working definition of that type of reaction among chemists internationally for decades.
>37ºC is not a temperature at which combustion is possible.
It is though, and it happens often. You're probably confusing thermal combustion with oxidative combustion. The two are conflated frequently in high school level literature.
>The body runs on a process called cellular respiration that has nothing to do with combustion.
The body runs on a process called cellular respiration which is run primarily on combustion.* There are intermediate steps, as depicted in the diagram you obviously didn't read, but the primary backbone reaction is combustion.
>I'm gonna ignore the rest of your disingenuous nonsense such as "balanced diet" (meaningless buzzword).
It is not disingenuous to imply that eating a variety of foods is better than a restrictive monodiet. You're allowed to be upset that your diet isn't good, but it is disingenuous to imply that a balanced diet is nonsense, or a buzzword.
It's becoming increasingly obvious the only possible cases here are: You are pretending to be retarded, or you are a child. It would be rude to assume you actually think these incredibly stupid things, because that would make you a very stupid person. I want to give you the benefit of the doubt, so I'll say this: Keep up the good work kiddo! You obviously have a passion for STEM and bio in particular. There's tons of work in the field of biochem, biophys, and physbiochem. Stay in school, get into uni, and you could be writing papers about this stuff!
