I used to love working out and was always eager to improve myself. 7 years later and I got comfy: great friends, loyal girlfriend, new cozy neighborhood. Now I just can't get back into it, I just don't care enough. Yet I'm not satisfied with this, staying mediocre. Deep inside I crave the struggle again... Did you go through this and if so how did you solve this? How to get HUNGRY again? How to kill apathy and inner faggotry? One half wants to fight but the other half just can't be bothered. Doing either, the other part is unsatisfied. Pushing through it hasn't worked so far, deep lack of willpower will literally have me give up mid set and stop the workout, kinda like when you don't want sex at all after you just jacked off, I can't fight it, please help

You just have to shift it. You don't have to be hungry but instead make it play and fun to do things and explore your limits and learn new things or reach new heights. You need to find a new way to approach the same end point

HIT is like quitting while still going and potentially making progress. I find it drains my will a lot less. When you're ready you can fluff it back out to normal routine but just getting in doing a few hard sets is really sustainable regardless of how bored or tired you are.

Use discipline to keep pushing for 3x a week workouts, see it as simply something that needs to be done

As far as motivation you said you don't want to be mediocre so make liftng something you want, figure out where you want to be. Or just double down on hating mediocricy

In fitness terms, give your lifting method a change. See how your body responds.
In life, learn something new. Explore.
Push yourself out of the comfort zone. Sounds cliche but it’s the truth.
There is always something new to try.
