Its more convenient to just mix whey up with some milk and drink it. Everyone eats chicken regardless of having whey or not you retards, the question is it the price worth having this convenience.
Whats next? Telling us walking is cheaper than driving?
>>
>>77466825
Poor or rich, there is no reason to buy whey protein over real food, and even less reason to buy whey protein at this price. Even rich people should be smart with their money and not chuck it at stupid, no-value shit.

Yes, of course eggs aren't a waste product of a domesticated animal which we keep specifically to provide us with them.

Even relative to the chicken's perspective, they brood on their so-called "waste products" intending to hatch them.

I bought a 5 pound eye of round at $6.29/lbs. after trimming and everything it’s over 450g protein. That’s 18 servings of 25+g protein for basically the same price as a tub of ON with 16 servings 24g protein. You whey coonzoomers are paying beef prices for a bad tasting milk drink.
>>
>>77467086
Are you referring to onions or pea? How's it taste?
>>

I make my own beef jerky from eye of round. It’s super easy to make and doesn’t have unnecessary curing salts and I have my favorite recipes dialed in. I portion it out in 20g protein bags and keep in the fridge if I eat something low protein like a dessert or a restaurant meal.
>>
>>77467230
Sounds tasty. Im not doing that though so it makes sense for me to just get some whey on top of whatever im eating. Ill make steaks maybe once a week, two at most. Why did whey get so expensive when milk has remained static this whole time?

I can still go to the super market and get a gallon for $2.99, but a bottle of whey has tripled in price over the past 5 years.

The majority of whey is a byproduct of cheese manufacturing. Now look how the high heat the last weeks in europe influenced the cheese economy and you understand really fast why the prices skyrocketed.

in case someone actually doesnt know
yes, chicken raised for meat is different from chicken (hen) kept for eggs
the chicken we eat are special breeds that grow well and are basically killed before they can even lay eggs at like 2 months old
laying chicken are bred for laying eggs and are kept as long as thats viable, then you could argue its actually their meat that is the waste product when they are killed
the chicken you buy wont come from hens, look around the store, the hens are these small shrivelled looking things, kinda like old women
both are all female chicken btw, male chicks are ground up for mcnuggets or pet food in both cases
this of course applies to commercial farming in more developed countries, indians keeping chicken in their dirt garden might not make a distinction (which is probably where this confusion comes from)

It makes sense when you understand that almost no one makes whey for whey sake. Whey is a byproduct of the cheese industry. Now that GLP1s are widespread and people are trying to eat better corporations are making "protein" variants of their normal foodstuffs and they do this by just adding whey protein to them, this means there is more demand for whey, but since no one makes whey just to make whey they make whey as a byproduct of cheese and there isn't an increase in cheese production whey's supply stays static, and when supply stays the same but demand goes up prices go up, thus milk stays the same, cheese stays the same, whey goes up, because kraft is now putting whey powder in their blue box mac and cheese and calling it powermac Optimum Nutrition now has to pay more to get the whey to make their gold standard because they're competing with kraft (and others) for the same whey.

If the [protein _______] fad dies prices might come back down.
>>
>>77466440

>If the [protein _______] fad dies prices might come back down.

Unlikely. Even if the protein junk food fad ends and whey powder sellers can afford to drop the price, they won't if people are used to it and continue to pay the higher price. Just like how any time there's any inflation, groceries stores just artificially jack up their prices on top of it because they have a scapegoat, then make record profits.

not even convenience, just feeling like shit from having to eat so much. I cook basically every meal, and even with meal prepping, it's a lot of just volume of chicken, eggs, steak, it gets exhausting at times. sometimes I just would rather not eat, but I need protein for growth and recovery, so oh just a few scoops of powder with some whole milk and i'm done. no cleanup either, just rinse/wash my shaker and that's it. I chug as well so that's what 2 minutes versus all the time it takes to prep meat and then cook it and then storage and all the volume eating it. yes protein powder doesnt give the same satiety as eating a bunch of food but I just dont care if I feel hungry.

I won't pretend choccy-flavored whey milkshakes are the only way to hit targets and cheaper options aren't available, but fitness being completely gatekept financially would be fantastic news. With stuff like this it probably is anyway because most people aren't capable of the tiny amount of planning they would have to do to make a cheaper meal plan. If someone wants to improve then poorness should be addressed well before any serious fitness.
