is it cringe to prioritize work-life balance so i can work out more? i work a hybrid 9-5 office job and i have time for my wife, dog, gym and hobbies.

i recently turned down a job that would've paid me $200k+, way more than what i make now, but they expected 70+ hour work weeks and regular travel. my bank account would love it but i'm pretty sure my health and every other aspect of my life would take a nosedive. I have friends who did investment banking out of college almost all of them are fat and have health problems now because they were constantly working and abusing cocaine, i never wanted to end up like that.

I am doing a job that pays 1/3rd of what I can earn so I can avoid stress, not take ADHD drugs and work out 4-5x a week. Your health is an asset today and in the future. What good is the money if you are ill and unable to do the things that made you go after the money in the first place? I am fit, I am relaxed, I get a lot of sex, and the bills get paid. I already have retirement taken care of. No use scraping for another penny.

You made the right decision. 200k still isn't enough to see a dramatic increase in your quality of life. You're basically king of the wageslaves at that level. Your life is similar but with less free time, yet you can buy a more expensive brand of car or clothing in the best case scenario. What's more likely is that the extra money will be spent on your new health issues you'll develop from the increased stress.

Real wealth is time and freedom to do what you want - as long as all your expenses are met for the lifestyle you want.

My female boss at my adult daycare wagie job jokes from time to time about making me the boss. Her jokes varied to a more serious tone and i flat out told her that i dont want to be a boss for females because my office is a female dominated shithole. My boss is overworked and exhausted and the difference of money isnt much. My boss started directing those jokes toward some feminist commie bullshit larper vegan woman, and she took it like something to be proud of. I like my wagie job because its easy, everyone respects me and i live a chill life with good enough paychecks working just 7 hours a day in a dumbfuck easy job and doing whatever the fuck i want the rest of my day. Being a hardass in your career is retarded and 100% cope, its nothing to be proud of, yet, more and more women take it as the meaning of their lives. The thing is that everyone, but specially men, are so fucking tires of this bullshit society that just doing the bare minimum already sets you ahead of everyone else, even if you are not actually looking for it.
>>
In 2026? No. If you’re a young white man, you’re literally not going to have a career no matter how hard you work so there’s no point in trying. The only way to really make it today as a white boy is to be a serial entrepreneur. As a wagie, you’re going to be suppressed so that women and blacks can be hired or promoted instead. So focusing on career is a waste of your time. Either cultivate a lifestyle you find genuinely worth it independent of career or go all in on entrepreneurship and self employment.
>>
For what it’s worth, I did investment banking after college. I quit in the first 3 years for a better work life balance as did almost all of my peers. We exited to various things but I exited to the lowest wage but most flexible job of all of us and I have the best lifestyle by far. Some of my peers went off to private equity or some high level job in corporate finance and they’re miserable and fat. A lot of them are now married in very unhappy marriages. They make a lot more money than I do, but because I wasn’t tied down to New York or San Francisco, I own multiple homes and they don’t. They still rent or live in some McHouse in the suburbs. No joke. I talk to many of them often and every single one of them is miserable. The truth is as a wagie the only way you can make really good money today is to literally exchange your entire life for it. Raw deal if you ask me. They commute some miserable commute, work all day, come home to a miserable bitch of a wife, and find happiness in 30 minutes cooking dinner for the fat bitch on a Blackstone griddle. Meanwhile, I travel, spend my days fishing or in my studio, just wrote a book, and although I don’t get get laid as often as I used to, my last few short relationships have been with college girls. Yeah, I’m pretty sure my life is a lot better than theirs.

The problem for me comes in the fact that I’m still ambitious. The hard truth is that if you’re an ambitious person, only a handful of jobs get you anywhere. So it’s tough knowing that my job doesn’t exactly lead to Congress and theirs can but even so I mean unless you want to filthy rich or a senator my deal is infinitely better.

Those types of jobs are only worth it to achieve specific goals over the short term, like a house deposit or paying off a bunch of debt, a specific wealth goal to retire/move country, or whatever. You end up paying with your health and sanity, things money can't buy back.

I work a dogshit email job and have plenty of time for gym, social and hobbies. Sure I don't get travel much and can only afford to live in a dogbox but in this economy who cares, simpler things are good enough for me. I invest my money and hopefully I'll make enough that way to live in a slightly better dogbox in the future if I ever get good at it or go live off dividends in Asia/South America or something.

>>77467816
For me, money has such massive diminishing returns that I'd rather prioritise fitness. There's almost nothing to spend money on anymore. Media is pozzed garbage, clothes are now all disposable plastic, decor is now all disposable plastic, travel is ruined by Hindus and Muslims. I don't really care about cars (I kinda like bikes but not enough where it becomes a money sink). The only thing I spend money on nowadays is premium Japanese stationery and bespoke clothing, but it's not a regular thing, so I don't really need to be making $200k or whatever.

I guess the extra money can be nice to invest to protect from inflation, but I honestly have too little hope in the future to give a shit. I have thought of buying lots of land and living off the grid, but then that's not even guaranteed peace since govt. can be after my ass or someone could decide to build a data centre ruining the place

Leisure is the entire point of work. You're giving up your health and best years of your life for excess money that you don't even need to live comfortably.

I work in a highly paid white collar profession. I used to work full-time and I was on a very high salary.

The cost was that I was chronically stressed, sleep deprived, and utterly exhausted. I didn't have the time or energy to be lifting. Just like your friends I was also abusing cocaine, nicotine, and energy drinks just to feel some dopamine.

The exhaustion, poor health, and being hardstuck as a DYEL absolutely destroys your confidence and well-being and anyone who's been stuck in this sort of loop can attest to that, especially if you're a night owl and waking up to alarms every day is basically rape.

The system is deliberately designed to crush people's spirits so they won't organise, won't revolt, they'll just work like slaves for the corporations and then go home to numb themselves and distract themselves with consumerism.

Now I work only 14 hours a week, and my life is IMMEASURABLY better. I sleep well, eat well, lift hard, and I can do whatever I want with my abundant time. I still make more than double the average salary.

Escape the slave system. Let the goycattle do the 40+ hour work weeks, whilst you live how humans are supposed to.
>>
>>77471497
I live the "riskier" lifestyle when it comes to work. I say riskier because everyone seems to think what I do is committing some sort of career suicide.
I work for a few years at one place and leave when work environment gets worse. Take about 6 months off doing whatever. Apply for a new job and recycle that process. People seem to freak out when you dont have another job lined up when quitting.
>>

Worse in what ways? the coworkers get sloppy, work dries up, or hiring issues?
I left my previous workplace because of all those things. The vibes were awful and I couldn't wait to get out.

>>77467816
money should improve your life, not make it worse. if you sacrifice your life in order to work, you're just a slave with golden chains. 70h weeks on the regular is a lot and will be detrimental to your well-being in the short and long term; you'll get less sleep, be way less active if at all and you'll generally be a lot more stress.
having a lot of money is nice, but it comes at a cost and in your position it might not be worth it. if you were single, sure. but since you have a wife the priorities aren't the same
>>
>>77469588
what a terrible mindset to have lmao
>>
>>77467816
Health is real wealth. Unless you need the money, or you are young and have a plan to exit after 2-3 years of hell (you won't turn into a blob after 2-3 years as long as you take basic steps to maintain some of your fitness), it's not worth it.
>>
Hmmm theres clearly been a lot of pushback recently against the "grind like a fag" mindset that used to dominate manland but I dont know if the no ambition no work ethic muh stress fags are much better, its a manly quality to aspire to greatness and power and yeah I know we're all ultimately subjects to the small hats but pretending that a guy running a big company who has the ability to hire and support whites and their families and improve the local businesses for whites is worth just as much as the fag who plays vidya all day and doesnt do shit is just wrong

Its hard to get into positions of power but theyre not all bullshit and men should desire power so they can actually make a difference where it matters, chilling all day and shitposting does not move the needle on anything that matters

But when youre ready for this life you'll know. im not saying to push through shitty jobs and bad stress thats no good either, just dont try to cope and pretend being a bum is like, THE move in life, it ain't, its just coping

Do they get hot bitches freely, or just basically pay women to be around them who are grossed out by their unhealthy overworked bodies?

It always seemed obvious to me that the finance/lawyer bro lifestyle was just funneling yourself straight to escortcelism. But then again some of them seem to celebrate that as some flex

>Leisure is the entire point of work
i mean, thats not entirely true. Sad as it is it still stands (in the west at least) that people's lifestyles are centered around their professions. Their friend networks (and fellow parents when everyone has kids), romantic connections, recreation, status, etc all pretty much derives from their work in some way.

This of course is why the dominant strategy is to PRETEND to work, so you can attain all the benefits being a fellow professional brings, but not actually any of the labor that stresses and descends the goy. This is what your boss, and all the money manager frat bros do.

You can also just go to the store and buy some scrubs and walk around town, and strike up interactions with women where you tell them you're training to be a doctor. Way easier to meet them than putting on some random shit you think looks cool. Or get a Nasa nametag and wear it. Point is, there was never enough time or youth in life to ACTUALLY be working. All the real work is passed down to the studycels, and the striver/family centric jeets are who are being harvested for this at the moment it seems...

i left mbb consulting for a decent sized paycut for a job that has 30-40hrs per week, from 240k to 170k

best decision of my life. people dont understand how grueling it is to work 80-100 hrs per week, especially once you have a wife and kids.

your wife and your girls will go to shit once you get fat. but going from high earning to "not as high earning" will not mean anything unless you are dating someone who is currently lifestyle creeped up to your current income.

having my wife ratchet down her nannies and her spa days and her cleaners was painful and almost broke us, but getting fat would definitely have broke us.

and if i was still single, going from 250 to 150 would make not much difference in quality of girl i could pull.

acquire skills, dont just show up
ask for more responsibility and look to see who is the best person in the room to learn from
The most important thing is your reputation - protect it at all costs.
Dont fail to deliver anything you said you will (i'll do this by EOD, means you BETTER do it), dont promise anything you can't deliver
be likable, dont be defensive on your mistakes, own them immediately and analyze how you could have done better
if someone calls you out on a mistake, you can still maintain reputation by saying "you know you're right, i'll fix that".

Its most important to be known as a hard, effective, and capable worker. The best way to do this is by actually being good at your job, but its not necessary. Some people sidestep this by chatting up and being likeable and taking jobs that arent hard. The best way is to actually be a hard worker and also be social, but its more important to be known as a good worker than to actually be a good worker. You can't work hard in silence without your bosses knowing what is going on, its strangling on your career.

The best sentence you can type to your boss is "hey, i took care of X. there was Y problem but I solved it with Z. I sent it across and CC'ed you. No action items required - just keeping you in the loop. text me if you have any questions. Now im working on A, then B, then C - all appear on track to meet deadlines"
