For me, it’s the split squat, fucks me up like nothing else
>>77468605Why waste you’re time training legs?
>>77468605Love until failure
>>77468613Heavy ass barbell back squats are a close second specifically because once you reach around 1.4-1.5x bw on squats you get anxious before lifting it
>>77468605For me it's 5k races. Much more physically and mentally taxing than deadlifts or squats.>>77468615That's part of the fun though. It feels like if you mess up, you die.
>>77468605just do a normal barbell squat instead of this time wasting bullshit. >doubles the amount of time required to complete the exercise>massively reduces balance and so reduces how much you can load the exercise, reducing gains>reduces RoMwhat a dogshit lift.
>>77468615>nce you reach around 1.4-1.5x bw on squats you get anxious before lifting ityou shouldn't do more anyway. you could also get the same effect with less weight pre-exhausting the thighs
I love doing those. Fantastic for the glutes + glute bridges
>>77468686Its okay to admit its just too hard for you, sweetie
>>77468605I have to do split squats. I get SI joint pain from sprinting if I don’t do I bunch of asymmetric stuff.
>>77468605Kino exercise, horrible to go heavy on but the pay off is excellent
>>77468608Big tree trunk legs is a warrior Aesthetic
>>77468686>t. fatty with no balance
>>77468608fpwp>Why waste you’re time training legs?t.
>>77469025Is a homo aesthetic>>77469246U know u have a bad point when u have 2 photoshop an image 4 ur point
>>77469246Clavicular's goal physique is literally wheelchair ultramarathoner.
Just do leg press and hip thrusts
>>77468605I stopped doing them because it takes me like 30 minutes to do just 2 sets of these.
>>77469475no it doesnt
>>77468605Weighted chinups tire me the most but I dread my leg press pukers the most.
>>77468605I can't even do them properly because of poor foot mobility, I can't keep them straight on a bench like that pic, making form and balance even harder to get rightThe gym I go to doesn't have those BSS stands either, which would ultimately solve this problemLooking up some alternatives, but nothing seem to come close
>>77468605Hardest for me is just good ol barbell squats. Nothing else gasses me like those do.
Kettlebell snatch.I tought i was strong and had good endurance before these.
>>77468605I did it for the first time in a few months, it's a bit painful when I sit and stand up.
>>77468605dips>one wrong move and your shoulders are fucked>one wrong move and your sternum is fucked>one wrong move and your elbows are fucked
>>77470041this, dips is a legit time bomb>>one wrong move and your sternum is fuckedi tried so many different forms, tried ignoring the pain because i thought i was just untrainedresult? i have permanent costochondritis nowi try so hard to avoid movements that pressures my sternum like dips does, because i'm certain to have a shitty painful flare up
>>77469476Well it does for me.
>>77470041Yep. I made a wrong move and my shoulder is now fucked. Salvageable, but damn. I've never been fucked like this
>>77468934this. Im getting close to half my squat weight on this shit, and it gasses me out like hell but the DOMS is heavenly
>>77469491same.
>>77470041I find calisthenics like chinups appealing but dips always felt bad for me. Heavy adjustable dumbbells have been great for my upper body push movements. I don't really feel the need to go heavier, maybe I'm just old but heavy benching isn't my thing.
>>77469491Hip drahve
>>77468605Cable lateral raises on my left arm, I have to do a few more reps per set on the left side to balance out asymmetry but it's just so damn weak
>>77468605Human flags >getting in place is RNG dependant>subject to strength imbalance between left and righ>requires rockclimber baby powder>injury proneBut you look like a total badass doing it.
>>77468682The 5k is a perfect in-between of the mental struggle of marathons and the absolute agony of the 400m. As someone who has raced all three, I can confidently say that the 400m is the cruelest distance, followed by the 800m and then the 5k
>>77468605this shit makes me want to kill myself
>>77468605Reverse lunges.
>>77469246they look like they've been in wheelchairs their entire lives, gotta be shooped
>>77468605barbell squats, not even close. Especially when you do it at home alone there's always that risk of death and if you do closer to 10 reps it FUCKING TAKES EVERYTHING FROM YOU and you have to rest for 10 min just to get to more or less normal breathing and for nausea to go away. and whenever I do more than 2 sets I get cramps like crazy for the rest of the day and during the fucking night. And before you faggots write any snarky comments - that just comes with the territory. When you're lifting big enough weights and don't do a lot of dedicated cardio the sheer amount of energy required is simply too much for your body to handle.
>>77468615>Heavy ass barbell back squats are a close second specifically because once you reach around 1.4-1.5x bw on squats you get anxious before lifting it>>77468682>That's part of the fun though. It feels like if you mess up, you die.Yup, these. Tbh even at 1.25x bw they feel and are scary.
>>77472357>that just comes with the territoryOr, you're just retarded and have no common sense whatsoever.
>>77469486You don’t need your foot straight, let it wrap.Try using a box that’s higher than the bench too. I found split squats would hurt my tailbone and be unstable until I used a 20” box instead. Also going through the motion without weight first to make sure all positioning was correct was useful. Otherwise my tailbone/knee would all ache.Final advice: start doing couch stretches regularly, they’ll fix your hip flexor and make split squats easier.
either sandbag carry to failure with a moderate weight or sandbag to shoulder with a 1rm weight
>>77468605Barbell squats make me feel light headed and give me fear while microbalancing the bar on my back until it feels just rightrows gas me out the hardest
>>77470041Bros what are some alternatives to dips?Gym newbie btw
>>77471605If u use hip drive 4 squat ur doing em wrong.Watch Tom platz squat
>>77468605I am so lazy I think of my favorite exercises that either are easy or are so productive that I don't have to try as much after.
>>77472719>super arched bench but still trying to hit the muscles it uses>lat push downs>to be noted that a lot of incline is a similar core brace position and as important to distinguish between
>>77472724>inclineOr even ohp and arching more in general>super narrow grip bench like a regular bench motion but usually a narrower grip with a lower bar placement like closer to the ribs
>>77468605>>77468686>>77468887They're great if you only have access to dumbbells for a while. Same as one-leg RDLs.
>>77468682>>77472362hell I do low back which is even scarier for me since its harder to like let go of the bar at the bottom position. I sometimes ask people to spot me lol
>>77472335nothing gets past you, ay
>>77468686this guys right. the only reason people defend this lift or see gains from it is because they do it at a lower weight with a higher rep count than they do for their barbell squats. if you're doing 5 reps for your barbell squats, thats 2.5 per leg, but then you drop the weight and do 10 reps for your bss's, thats 4x as much per leg. you'd be much better off dropping the weight for your barbell squats and doing high rep counts for a more hypertrophic routine. you're always leaving gains on the table when you go for a less balanced movement, its the same reason ring dips are worse for muscle growth than normal dips even though they're a more difficult movement.
>>77472822not everyone is a stupid retard who only cares about muscle growth only you fucking moron. BSS addresses muscle imbalances improves stability and balance and hits your quads much better than regular barbell back squats do. If you really care about stability do fucking smith machine squats instead of regular barbell back squats
>>77472824>i dont wanna get big, i train for my mom!ok lil bro
>>77472822I dont like or do BSSs but your critique would apply to all unilateral movements. However unilateral movements are good and you should do them. For example I do one leg leg press for a 4 week block to stay on top of any imbalances.
>>77469246Only possible with steroids because of high T
>>77472719Dips are just about large range of motion for chest. So anything that really stretches the chest
At what point do I switch to high rep squats say 8 to 12 instead of doing 3x5? Is building baseline strength during first year of lifting a thing or should I just go to a hypertrophy base reps?
>>77473116>building baseline strengthWhat the fuck does that honestly mean?
>>77473116just start doing 8-12 from the offset, you can thank me later.
>>77473121linear gains over muscle growth until noon gains plateau, I'm new to lifting and been doing it for 9 months consistently, trying to increase bar weight every session is getting tiring and not seeing aesthetic improvement as much despite getting stronger with 3x5
>>77472822that post must have sounded smart in your head, but if you actually ever lifted you would have known bilateral and unilateral movements have different stimulus and response
>>77473135holy shit people still think this is 2026.
>>77473138i never denied they have different stimulus and response, i am saying you will make less gains doing bss's than barbell squats. sure, bss's will stimulate stabilizer muscles, but you will stimulate your large thigh muscles less than you would just doing barbell squats. if you want to spend your time doing harder movements to make less gains, be my guest. if you are training to improve at an activity, you wont gain anything from bss's, other than improving your ability to lift things up with one leg. which is pointless.
>>77472429Excuse me?
>>77472803best exercise for "low back" is zercher jefferson curls. And it's just fun, not scary
>>77473135Time to do some high rep dude, ditch the 3x5Bench press: 3x 4-8 repsIncline bench machine: 2x10-15Do this Monday and FridayWednesday do incline dumbbell bench 4x8-12
>>77473353I meant low bar sorry
>>77473349No.
Bent over rows. Why does this nigger lift feel like actual torture
>>77468605>Hardest exercise in your routineProbably the fully horizontal inverted row with my feet on a bench at the height of the bar or maybe the incline bench press dropset into fly as it's physically the most painful given my inner pectorals hurt to the touch from Monday to Thursday>>77468608>Why waste you’re time training legs?Because my kick has more PSI than your punch ever will - why bother getting into a fistfight if I'm strong enough to break your leg at the knee?
>>77470041>>77470060>>77470138That's because you didn't lean forward and do it on hardmode like you were supposed toSkill issue
>>77474542literally the greatest of all back exercises. I woke up this tuesday due to back DOMS
>>77468605Definitely incline bench that is actually productive and not just snap city im gonna literally knock out the gym receptionist the next time I impinge my deltoid
>>77468686>doubles the amount of time required to complete the exerciseThat's fine. Leg day has fewer exercises anyway>massively reduces balance and so reduces how much you can load the exercise, reducing gainsI use a smith machine for BSSs, so this is irrelevant. Also, the same dumbass argument could be used to say people should leg press instead of squatting.>what a dogshit liftPost legs
>>77474546Because I can jump super high and know defensive kickboxing and your entire martial art is a joke unless you are left in the dark on 90% of everything
>>77472335Real genius over here
>>77474673Nah you just can't hang post 360 back kick or else you have no form
>>77468605adding a little one leg extra jump to the exercise is always better, and instead of dumbbells, have a bar on your back for max enjoyment.
>>77474665Tried barbell last week because dumbbells started being a bit of a pain in the ass to lift in place. Right shoulder has felt funny since. Fuck this I don't need this shit, I'll ruin my delts with dumbbells, at least the weights will be heavy
>>77472803>>77473853That just seems like a suicide squat unless spotted (and given that even at official PL events spotters are occasionally total retards I wouldnt bet on that either)Btw one time I came
>>77475346just once? never again?
>>77468605Fuck bulgarian split squats. They're incredible. They suck so much. Love them. Pieces of shit. Amazing.
>>77468608I'm tall so my legs naturally lag far behind the rest of my body. I could exclusively train legs and they'd never be too big.
>>77476782got distracted by some bullshit. The one time I came close to getting deaded by a squat was when I was being spotted by my gf. Never again.
>>77468608Having strong legs is good for your health and prevents future injury
