>*does nothing*
>>77475759My gym has a bench with a short back and I do these seated and they hit really hard. I also do them with the ez curl barSkill issue
>>77475761whoa, you mean the thing that's different does something while the other thing does nothing
>>77475759>be me, still relatively new to lifting>lift with friend who’s been doing it for years but is frankly pretty retarded>he insists on doing just these (with an ez bar then with a dumbbell) instead of just a cable pushdown and cable overhead>do it with him and it feels like shit (0 stability, inconsistent form/rom)he’s stronger than me so I can’t really say anything but I feel like for triceps, cables are way better
The most brutal cope is when skullcrushers start hurting your elbows so you do a closer grip on your bench presses to "work" your triceps.
>>77475780If he's already adjusted to the exercsie he probably have better stability and consistant Form/RoM compared to someone how isn't used to it
It's a never-ending story in fitness.>noob does a new lift for high reps>gets sore>"OMG GUYS HAVE YOU EVER TRIED OUT *conventional single-joint exercise*">other dyels jump in to talk about how preacher curls, tricep extensions, lateral raises, back extensions ect. saved their marriageIt's so tiresome.
>>77475759>>77475780for overall tricep growth, overhead dumbbell ext is king.. i personally prefer 1 arm because it gives more stretch to bring out the long head, rather than contraction based like the pushdown. for tricep growth, keep it simple. 1 overhead movement, 1 downward movement. how you feel might not contribute much to growth. i have never seen a guy with weak arms able to execute 50lbs+ dumbbell single arm ext with good form and tempo. build it up from the bottom..
>>77475853My biggest reason for never having a dedicated arm day is because it always causes joint pain. PPL it is for me with arms at the end.
>>77475759I don't get it...it's doing something right? saying it does nothing is exaggerating
>>77475759Fucking hate this exercise
>>77475759Just do dips. It's so fucking easy to grow tris. Just fucking do dips as upright as you can.
>>77475759Do them single arm. Blasts your tri's and you can use your resting arm to help squeeze another 1 or 2 reps out when you hit failure
>>77475759It's all that guy who does only arms because he has some magical injury that stops him doing anything else does for triceps.
>>77475759Yet another exercise that's better on a machine
>>77475759 my progression with these to be extremely slow I do them one handed BTW.
>>77476478I kinda hurt my elbow the other night swinging the dumbell around like an idiot when lowering it to rack the bell. Think I might just do compounds for a couple weeks.
>>77476816Why is your beanie so bright?
>>77476819if you do them with emphasis on stretch rather than contracting by extending fully, you will actually see nice upper tricep/long head growth. you can use push down for contraction focused. for overhead, look at how ronnie coleman did it. people who don't know shit he had poor form, but it was actually perfect to the eyes of pro bodybuilders.
>>77475759Everyone says you need to do overhead to target the inner tricep head, Dorian yates even mentions it, yet Mike Mentzer claims he only ever did pushdowns and dips and has some fucking thicc upper arms.
When am I allowed to stop isolating arms?
>>77475759do them one arm at a time instead
>>77477327never your arms are the most important muscles because you don't go around shirtless in a thong every day
>>77477327day after you die
>>77475853unlike op picrel, close grip bench pressing actually works
>>77477343You don't know me
>>77475853
>>77475759Have you tried heavy weights?
