How many pull ups is normal with a 79 inch reach at 242lbs? Because right now I can't do 1. I can do 5 half ones.
10
>I can't do pullups/calisthenics because I'm too tall and weight more and it's easier for manletsOne of the bigger lanklet copes out there. Bigger muscle = stronger muscle, hence all top strongmen (depsite being on roids) are 6'2+.
>>77484666Thank you
>>77484661you should be able to do at least one242 and 79 inch reach is pretty huge though so its prolly very hard.at that size 0 is normal for most people. in fact even people much smaller have a hard time doing them.10 at that size is probably a good goal to shoot for.
I am 6'5" and eigh 276 this AM. I dont know my arm length/reach buts its proportional. I can do 10 solid clavicle to bar chinups and about 8 chin over the bar pullups, all of these are with full extension at bottom. Dont train partial ROM on chins - you just cheat yourself.I am also a very old fag in my 50s. Build the needed arm strength with dumbell curls, lat pulldowns and deadlifts. When I was younger, I was skinny fat and too weak to do any, even at a bodyweight of like 215. Years of compound lifts and getting stronger generally gave me the ability.
I do pullups taking the bar all the way to my nips without kipping. Stop looking for excuses, fatass.
>>77484661youre a big guy arent you?
>>77484661Normal for who? An untrained ~6'5" (based on your reach) man probably can't even do a single proper pullup. Novice lifters maybe a couple, intermediate lifters 6 - 12. I'm talking about actual full range of motion pullups with no swinging/kipping, and not chinups.
>>77484668Strongmen don't (usually) do pullups. Meanwhile gymnasts are always manlets. That being said OP I'm 6'4" and 340lb and I can do a couple.
>>77484661Is this picture saying being tall makes you worse at pullups? I thought it was the other way around ... longer limbs = better at pulling but worse at pushing. I'm relatively tall and pullups are one of my strongest lifts.
>>77484661Most people can't do pull-ups (not 1 strict rep) unless they train for it. I can do 10 strict pull-ups for 3 sets but that took 8 months of training.
>>77484661You should do holds at the top of the motion and slow negatives after you do your real pullups. Trust me your gainz will explode
>>77484661Brian shaw can do pull ups so idk what you’re bitching about
>>77485315Height dosen't mean that much, your reach is finger tip to finger tip with your arms spanned wide side to side, get a tailors measuring tape and put it in your fingers and measure to the centre of your chest if your by yourself.
>>77485333>>77485327I'm 6' 1.5" just built a little differently that's all, I'm "lanky" but I learned how to use it. Women make comments about my arm length, I also have a different psychological profile. All the things I've learned physically, mentally and spiritually over the years could only ever amount to anything by being thrust into fullscale war where my country needs me to take up a leadership position and train young men for the realities of war and self mastery. Sometimes I don't feel "lanky" just demonic, like when I want to use it, I could. You should watch Sean Woodson fight this weekend.
>>77485381Yeah I need resistance bands so I can get up there to start with
>>77484668>Bigger muscle = stronger muscle, hence all top strongmen (depsite being on roids) are 6'2+.This is generally true, but there are specific lifts that are disproportionately difficult. Of course there are some lifts like deadlifts that favor certain lanklet proportions and like you say bigger guys are on average naturally stronger.
>>77485604Can't you just jump?
Every time I post in a current body thread I get shit on for looking bad by almost everyone and then see what I presume are the same people who can't even do pull ups. Is everyone here larping angry basement people? This board is crazy.
>>77485624No I can't why would I ? That would be like you doing it with a bag of cement tied at your waist
>>77485674lol u dum
>>77485355You thought wrong.Long limbs means you need to do more work (force applied over a distance) to pull your heavier-ass over a larger distance in order to get a rep.Longer limbs can help you deliver more force at the ends of your limbs, but it'll also require a larger force to initiate that motion... so maybe the advantage cancels out. Torque = radius * force, type of shit. Think swinging a normal while holding the end of the handle and compare that with swinging a long sledgehammer (with the same size head as the standard hammer) held from the end of the handle -- that extra distance is going to amplify the impact.
>>77486008So people are calling OP (me) a dumb ass but they don't even know the basic principles of force and leverage.
>>77484661probably 0 especially for the untrained.
> 5 half ones.ZEROZEROZEROZEROZEROOOOOOOO
>>77484661If you pay for a gym membership then use the machines that's what they're there for
this is a suboptimal workout if you really want the lateral gains you need to try the runka bulle superset, it hits both tricep extensions and the lats and will garenteed make you the throat goat.
>>77485349>>77485609You're not understanding. The guy doing a shitty kipped rep at 300lbs BW is objectively stronger than the guy doing 10 clean reps at 170lbs BW. He should not feel bad that he cannot rep it out like the lighter guy. The extra 2 inches a tall lifter needs to move the bar is outweighed by their size. Non-weighted calisthenics guys just cannot wrap their heads around this because it would be admitting their only strength is actually not a strength but a weakness. And I say this as a lighter guy.The guy you're replying to is right. Taller guys have longer bones and more space on those bones for muscle; they have a higher ceiling for muscle growth. Lanklets that cope with leverages are truly the most pathetic lifters, they have a huge advantage over shorter lifters yet they truly believe they are disadvantaged. It's disgusting to read.
>>77484661>normallike 12-15 if i train pullups throughout the week5 if i don'ti just do a couple sets after every other workout as i train compound liftsi used to do them before every workout everyday and got to 20 comfortably after like a year of plugging away at themnot really sure what kicked in but I went from struggling for 10s to flying to 15s and then going for 20if you want it just do it i guess
>>77486208I don't mix with the public
>>77484661>>77485315>>77485349>>77485593average height on /fit/ is like 6ft5 at least I swear to god
>>77486878>averageI think you mean mode. I'm also 6'5" and have only seen a couple 6'6" and 6'7" dudes -- not enough people taller to bring the average up.Being 6'5" sucks, by the way. Have to bend way over to wash dishes in the kitchen sink; don't fit well or at all in small Japanese sports cars; only long sleeve shirts and pants are the most basic pieces of shit (i.e. no chance at nice fashion outside of bespoke clothes that ain't nobody but basketballers got money for); etc.etc.
