Everyone knows the guy who trains twice a month, eats nothing, and wonders why he isn't growing. That's not who I mean. I mean the friend, training partner or gym regular who:

- shows up 3-5x a week, for years, without long breaks
- runs a sensible program and actually progresses the loads
- eats enough protein, roughly controls calories
- sleeps okay, isn't chronically injured

...and after three or four years still looks like someone six months in.

Do you know someone like that? What did their training and eating actually look like, concretely? How did they explain it? And how did you explain it, watching from outside? Did any of them quit over it? Do you know what the final straw was?

Are you fucking him? How are hyper-observant of all these variables?

I mean, people you know they do these things more or less properly. Of course you can't track everything others do.

It doesnt matter because you'll never put in the work. If you really wanted it, you'd already be lifting and not worried about some arbitrary timeline.
If someone does tell you a timeframe you find acceptable, you'll go the gym then quit in a few months when you see no progress and then go back to making "how to achieve" threads with a pic of Gooky the anime character waiting for someone to "redpill" you on how to get jacked without doing anything. loser

Not really, but I've seen people that made really slow progress with certain muscle groups and over the years I've come to the conclusion that it's down exercise selection, form & execution. It's not that they can't build muscle quickly, certain exercises just don't work well for them, because they can not perform them properly. For example, someone with kyphosis and rounded shoulders will probably have trouble developing their pecs with pressing movements like the bench, and if their shoulders and triceps aren't particularly strong they might not increase their bench a lot, either. So if they just stubbornly stick to programs, even the good ones, that all have them do a bench variation as the main exercise for chest, that could be an issue. Other postural issues can affect how effective most triceps extensions (and an endless list of other exercises) are. Basically, they can either work around it by choosing exercises that work for their misaligned body or they spend a few months fixing their alignment, before they re-learn the basics.

Some people are legit hypogonadal like born with 150 test and other people are born with test near the upper bound.

Obviously anyone online who says they have "elite genetics" is on gear but even if we remove them from the equation there is always going to be a wide spectrum with significant variation. Is that fair? No. Is it the result of natural variation outwith your control? Yeah. Should you roid to level the playing field? That's up to you.
