I think my sense of proprioception might just be horrible because when I walk around barefoot, I feel so off-balance and dizzy. I used to wear thin Converse and Crocs, and my imbalance was also pretty bad, not as bad as when I’m barefoot, though.I recently upgraded to Hoka Bondi 9s, and for the first time, the floor doesn’t feel uneven and my feet actually feel coordinated. No random falling sensations. Is this a thing? Does anyone else experience this? I’m totally down to wear high-cushion shoes for the rest of my life, but I also don’t want to desensitize my feet and end up feeling even worse when I’m forced to go barefoot. I noticed when I took my new sneakers off today I felt dizzier than usual and my feet didn't feel like they were my own at all, until I put on my foam slides.
You sound schizo but barefoot walking is one of the gayest trends to ever arise, its such a non issue to actual athletes that it can be safely ignored forever
>>77486932You don't sound schizo, you sound retarded and disabled. Barefoot shoes are overhyped as a cure all, but they are still based and better than modern "shoes."
>>77486932That looks like a damn astronaut shoe
>>77486932Whatever you invariably gay thing you do don't get cheap shoes or shoes that are 'promoted'. You're gonna mess up your feet a bit in either case change hurts just be ready for it.
I like the idea behind zero drop and shoes that allow for toe splay but minimal/no cushioning has minimal benefit. Too much cushioning is no good either. There's a sweet spot and the type of cushioning makes a big difference. Some of the best cushioning I've tried is OOFOAM from OOFOS and Nike Vapormax in terms of comfort.
Wide toe box shoes and minimal cushion thats all you need
My father broke a midfoot bone running barefoot, and he a marathon runner. Apparently he went into it "too fast" but i think barefoot running at least for speed is stupid
>>77486932Vibram settled a $3.7m class action lawsuit because they lied about the benefits of barefoot shoes. I run better barefoot, but you can't do it on concrete/asphalt which is most of the places people actually live. People need to ditch the fake machoism of barefoot running and just accept it's necessary to have protective footwear for high impact running on materials intended for cars, not humans.Getting dizzy from walking around barefoot is wild though.
>>77486932Humans have been using footwear for hundreds of thousands of years; since before we were humans. Our feet evolved alongside the fact we tend to wrap them in leather or whatever. Wear a shoe that protects your foot.
>>77486932bro wear minimalist shoes that way you are done with your faggot cardio quicker and you get all the benefits of strengthening your tendons and joints primarily achilles and just general foot strength without running all day
The harder or longer you run the more cushion you want, but scaled down to short slow runs it doesn’t matter.
Running is a bullshit meme. The biggest lie in sport science is that humans are adapted for running. It’s obviously untrue. Look at hunters, farmers, warriors of past and present. Do they run? Do they sprint? No. They walk, hike, carry, throw, climb, but they do not run and definitely don’t sprint. Running and sprinting are something humans do in emergency scenarios, not natural day-to-day lifestyle. You cannot out-sprint a wolf and you cannot out-run a deer. These are abilities you have in case of emergency, not to do them every day on hard pavement. And by the way, every anaerobic exercise trains the aerobic system. Almost no aerobic exercises train the anaerobic system. Even sprinting has marginal anaerobic system training. Running is just another form of self harm, a sort of surrogate activity à la Ted K. If you’re out there every day pounding the pavement to be a roooner you’re genuinely a moron.
Your body is designed to haul a cart, to chop wood, to swing a hammer, to carry a pack, to scramble a large rock. It is not designed to drive your feet into concrete for hours everyday.
>>77486932it must change based off the surface like grass, wood, concrete, etc? That's a schedule a doctor's appointment thing, not asking random strangers online about shoes.
