What advice would you give to yourself if you could talk to the old you before your fitness journey?

I just wish I had started many years earlier with the knowledge I had when I finally made it a consistent part of my life.

The entire world is just people doing things. It’s that simple. You don’t transform into a doer with age, you just do things and things get done. Not easy, but simple. No hidden trick. The difficulty you’re feeling isn’t a sign that you’re missing something, it’s just difficult. The doubt you’re feeling isn’t evidence of inadequacy, it’s just doubt. A feeling. A reaction. Not substantive. Just sit with it, recognize that you already have all the factors accounted for and all the tools you’ll ever need, and knowing that, judge what’s worth doing. Not with an expectation that’ll it’ll get easier or a better time will come, but with an attitude of resignation, a certainty that this is indeed the cost that everyone who’s ever done something worth doing has paid. Pay it or don’t, but don’t wait for a better deal.

Compounds are not enough, definitely not for you anyway, so training arms and forearms is mandatory even if it feels like a chore.
Psyching up to do heavy deadlifts does nothing, you can separate it into two movements so for example stiff-leg deadlift from blocks and a rack pull.
Your knees will start popping if you don't isolate quads just because you think the leg extension is boring.
Doing 1 set per session can be good for benching (otherwise very little advice regarding this movement, you are just not built for it at all).
Lean into keto based diet sooner because everything was extremely cheap too back then and carbs/gluten cause serious bloat.

kill moot before he implements the captchas and wait times thus murdering 4chan forever
>>
Literally just keep doing it. Don't stop. Always keep going, keep pushing, be dedicated, be motivated.

The hardest gym session isn't the one where you use the biggest weights. The hardest gym session is the one you can't be bothered to go to.

You can still stack up so much muscle and muscle maturity from lifting even once a month assuming you can lift effectively.

the captchas and wait times were implemented due to a hyper autistic coordinated group of cp spammers ongoing for literal years
4chan would be murdered even harder without these measures
>>
>>77487532
I’m a newfag here and the captchas are honestly a non-issue. It’s the 5 fucking minute wait time that’s annoying.

Don't work out biceps 10 sets to failure every 2 days you will get tendonitis

They're annoying as fuck and I'd wager combined with wait times the main reason the site has seen a 90% drop off in traffic since the peak in 2021.

Though has to be said that this peak was in the spring through June and new captchas only came in the middle of July, with the first ones being quite okay (possibly even better than the previous "choose image" captchas), so they're not the sole mover.
Still, since the most recent batch of the most annoying ones (multiple tasks, wait times), the site's gone from still reasonably active and usable to an absolute ghost town. Maybe they were just the last nail in the coffin.
https://4stats.io/

Either way, with them, the site is nigh unusable now for anyone but a "dedicated poster" lmao. Before, you could participate from the shitter or by just opening the site and going at it, now it's a task in and of itself where you have to keep a thread open and wait out the fucking timer and then also do some more meaningless bullshit. Most people just don't bother and go elsewhere I reckon.

How the fuck is /fit/ still getting 2k posts a day anyway? I feel like I'm seeing a couple hundred at the maximum.

>>77487794
What's the qrd on this? I think I've read the claim before but never looked into it more, is there no other way they could've stopped them? Surely hyper autistic spammers don't mind solving a captcha?

>splurge on a stationary bike because going outside is miserable with all the trucks, dogs and concrete. You will not do cardio consistently otherwise.
>train joint mechanics, not "muscles." This knowledge makes programming a breeze

>Greg is a liar and an all around shitty person, you already know this. Of course he didn't make all those gains in 4 months natty. Also, he's just using you to hang out with Brit.
>Brit is an attention whore, and if you cut Greg out, stick with it, and don't lose your patience, you'll get to smash.
>You know she's literally dying, bro. 5 years, max, new medicines notwithstanding. And you know she's not hot, it's just the drugs making her skin flush and her lips plump so she looks horny all the time.
>And Brit is also a terrible person, just like Greg. She gets a pass on it because, ya know, dying. But that's a smash and dash, bro.

>>77487321
Don't get a gym membership, build a home gym. Don't buy equipment you will need to replace after a year. A home gym can be minimalistic and cheap but don't save on the wrong ends. Don't buy the flat bench, you will want an adjustable one at some point. Fix your posture first. Biomechanics are everything, and all exercises will become more effective. Freeweights are fine for the beginning but don't wait too long until you get a cable machine. Even the DIY cable pulleys you can attach to your pullup bar work well. If your joints hurt, don't push through it, instead always warm up properly and wear sleeves if they help. If you get injured more than once from a certain exercise just don't do it anymore. There are always good alternatives. If an exercise doesn't grow the target muscle a lot, find a variation, a different angle or a different exercise that does. Do what feels good and actually works, not what a program says. Eat more, eat smarter, don't bother pushing calories too hard. More calorie dense foods and consistent frequency of meals, instead of huge meals and skipping some of them. Every meal should contain protein and it's fine to have a high protein goal but your real protein requirements are probably a lot lower than you think.

>>77487826
Yes, but it's bad for progress in the long run because it cripples your arms.

>>77487321
You have to eat just as much or more to be fit as you do to be fat.
Just eat better food.

>How the fuck is /fit/ still getting 2k posts a day anyway?
They're all within generals. This board is otherwise pretty much dead and I blame it on a janny who tries too hard to keep it on topic. Fitness is solved and the only actual fitness threads are asking questions that have been answered a million times before.

You can't even post a thread with a hot girl in the OP anymore
>inb4 that's good!
>>
Analysis paralysis and the idea that there’s some secret or holy grail that you just havent discovered yet are your biggest enemies. Yes, lifting and dieting really are that simple. No, there are no shortcuts, unless you pin. Yes, you have to learn a lot along the way, but you don’t have to know everything before you start. Not doing everything perfectly isn’t a waste of time. Half the people here have spent so much time studying exercise science that they could have gotten a degree in it and yet they’ve spent less time actually lifting.
>>
>>77487321
Never ego lift, ever.
Lean is law, always.

5 minute wait is solved by doing a set or two. The time is less of a barrier if you're shitposting mid workout
