I’m closer to 1pl8 OHP than I am to 2pl8 bench, 3pl8 squat or 4pl8 deadlift. I think I’ll have a 1pl8 OHP for reps in a month or two.
>>
>>77491789
I hit 1pl8 OHP (actually 145lb) but only 190 bench 235 squat and 355 dl then didnt lift for 6 years.
Just started again last month and have reclaimed 1pl8 bench 2pl8 squat 3pl8 dl but none of my old numbers yet
but hoping to reclaim 1pl8 OHP in a few months
So yea I am with you 1pl8 OHP is definitely the easiest of the four
You're gonna get it soon anon and in two years we are both gonna be sick cunts
wagmi
>>
>>77491789
When I started out my OHP was already good and my bench and other lifts were abysmal. For quite some time my bench was barely higher than my OHP and when I hit 1pl8 OHP for reps my bench was like 70kg for reps and I was even further away from the squat and dl. Some people struggle with OHP, for some it's the easiest milestone to achieve. That said, while reaching 1pl8 OHP was easy for me, I really struggled hard to get it to bw.
>>
>>77491789
You should never stop doing ohp or whatever, keep doing it once a week or so and that will allow you to grow a bigger bench by not having to get your supporting muscles up to par and can just bench all the time.
>>
>>77491789
i hit 135x4 OHP in six months and i wasn't even OHPing for most of it, just AD press and BTN press in the smith
i also just started diddlying after only doing RDLs up to this point, but i think i can get 4pl8 1RM by EOY if i try (but i probably won't, i'll have to start cutting before then)
my bench sucks by comparison (1RM probably around 190) and i don't back squat
>>
>>77491789
yeah, i hit 1.5 ohp before 2 bench press. its normal, depends on your build and your priorities
>>
>>77491935
bait
>>
>>77491953
nope
>>
>>77491789
I started on Phrak's and remember my OHP and squat increased most consistently of those lifts, but I'd trained squats some before (former high school wrestler), so that could explain it.
So long as you're progressing at least somewhat regularly you should keep doing what you're doing.
>>
>>77491979
yep
>>
>>77492066
why dont you believe me? what do i stand to gain from lying about my bench being shit?
>>
>>77491789
Timeline of my last 8 months (starting from dyel) was like:

Month 4: 1pl8 OHP for reps
Month 7: 3pl8 squat for reps

Haven't hit 2pl8 bench or 4pl8 deadlift yet. Have tendonitis which is slowing progress. Hit the arm workouts with more frequency than I could recover from as a natty.
>>
Same here. Long arms, not that big chest or wide claviculars. If someone asked me to do 1pl8 oph (obviously with good technique, just bracing a lot and grinding with triceps) I would think nothing of it even if I don't train for it specifically. A fitting difficulty standard for me would be something like 75kg oph and 100kg bench.
>>
>>77492519
Pretty gifted in squats.
>>
>>77492784
Thanks, I'm really proud of my squats. Started with SL 5x5 which had me doing 5x5 of my 5RM squats 3 days a week. Or 75 5RM squats per week. Was one hell of a grind. 2pl8 bench will probably be my next milestone, I'm up to 215 lbs for reps.
>>
>>77492817
If you do 215 for reps there is no way you cannot do 2pl8 for 1. Go to the gym right now and do a 2pl8 bench. Right the fuck now, nigger. You got this.
>>
>>77492817
>>77492840
Yes if he can do 95kg for reps then he obviously already has the 100kg without a question and can just do it. Which doesn't mean you should in general go to gym to _test_ your strength instead of building it, but you can test sometimes.
>>
>>77492849
I am not saying go to the gym to test constantly, but 2pl8 bench is one of the biggest early-mid milestones that exists if not the very biggest so it deserves to be tested right the fuck now
>>
>>77492853
Agreed.
>>
>>77492840
Thanks, I'll give it a try next session.
>>
Is 1/2/3/4 for 1rm, reps, or sets?
I feel like anything under 5x5 is cheating.

Anyway,
OHP: 115
Bench: 220
Squat: 185
DL: 275

>>77492931

>>77492974
I have always seen the milestones as being for 1rms.

Well that's one way to say you skip leg day

i'm 1234 for reps, 2pl9, dyel, 1rm, natty
>>
>>77493097
if your bench isnt higher than your squat are you even a gymbro
>>
>>77493097
I do marathon training, so I purposefully don't max out legs because I'm already running 6 days a week.
>>
>>77493166

>>77493348

Currently I am squatting a bit more than I am benching but I hate squats so my long term intent is keep squat and bench 1:1, will I fuck up my proportion if I do that for many years?
>>
>>77491789
I got 1 OHP in less than a year.
It took me 5 years to get 4 DL, mainly because I kept getting injured (bad form)
>>
>>77493356
If you are interested in a normal weightlifting progression, squats will be higher than bench. You only see T-rex proportions when people are squatting like 5 times a week.
>>
I'm over 1 and 2 plates for OHP and bench respectively and hit 3pl8 squat but I'm stuck on 3pl8 deadlift. It's maddening.
>>
>>77493365
Right but I enjoy lifting in general but I hate squats so I prefer to minimize squats so I dont hate going to the gym. I just wanna know if I will end up as a leglet if I go light on squats and keep them 1:1 with bench. I love pushing my limits on bench but I fucking hate it on squats
I go heavy on deadlift and do some cardio if that matters
>>
>>77493373
Why is deadlift so hard for some people? I am at lmao1pl8 bench and lmao2pl8 squat yet I am at 3pl8 dl (shit numbers yes but I just started lifting again a month ago, used to be able to go heavier on all).
Do you use mixed grip? I find mixed grip makes deadlifting heavy way easier than double overhand or double underhand.
I also add weight each rep after warmups
i.e. yesterday my deadlifts were 135x5, 225x3, 245x1, 275x1, 295x1, 315.
My 315 was an imperfect rep but later this week I am gonna do a perfect 315
I am a dyel noob so dont put too much weight on my opinions but I am adding 10+lb/week to my dl and this is whats working for me
>>
>>77493374
Try cycling then. I wouldn't overthink it.
>>
>>77493386
No clue, makes no fucking sense to me. I do use mixed grip. I even tried sumo to test and that felt worse. I've had people check my form and everything.
>>
>>77491789
for some, 1pl8 OHP is the easiest milestone to reach. for others, it's the last one in the 1/2/3/4
>>
>>77493386
>yesterday my deadlifts were 135x5, 225x3, 245x1, 275x1, 295x1, 315.
sounds like you're progressing, try to bang out more reps in the 225-275 range before adding weight to the bar.
>>
closer to a 2pl bench than I am a 1pl ohp. Cant seem to make progress with my ohp. at 185 rn for bench while only at 80 for ohp.
>>
>>77491789
2 pl8 bench is actually more equivalent to 4pl8 squat, 5pl8 dead and 1.5pl8 ohp
>>
>>77492420
He's coping. Don't mind him.
>>77491789
Keep going as hard as you have been on OHP. Someday your other lifts will vastly outpace it eventually anyway.
>>
>>77491789
I can do 1pl8 OHP for 4 and have done 2pl8 medium grip bench for 1 (probably had more, maybe 2-3 reps is my max); squat is at 2pl8 for 6 and DL is like 3pl8 for 5-10 (I barely do it)

Moral: don't waste time with calisthenics for legs, just LIFT FUCKING WEIGHTS
>>
>>77491953
nta, i was the same
i also think good ohp can stunt your bench form if you're new and not careful because you'll put too much weight on your shoulders instead of using your chest like you should
>>
>>77494474
>squat=bench
HOLY FUCKING BASED
>>
>>77493386
After 3pl8 deadlifts get exponentially harder. You can get completely gated on grip strength and just not be able to hold the bar for all your reps. Also it can cause spine pain if you go too fast.
>>
>>77494755
Nah I don't think it's good at all. I have to atone for my past sins by squatting extra hard now
>>
you got it bro
>>
>>77491789
I'm convinced that 90% of the people who say this stuff aren't strict pressing.
>>
>>77496687
I actually got to 1pl8 OHP for 4 while my bench is still 205 lb for 6. AND I've trained bench more often than ohp.
>>
People who squat >1pl8 are skinny dyels or fat powershitters
>>

>you're not doing exactly the thing I think is right so none of your numbers are real
>>
>>77496687

>>
>>77491789
I'll have 3pl8 squats in a month or two at most, but i am nowhere near 2pl8 bench -80 kilos- or 4pl8 deadlift. what do I do? My squatting strength far surpassed my other lifts
>>
i do 1pl8 ohp and 2pl8 bench for reps, 3pl8 squat for 1rm, and i dont like deadlifting
>>
>>77498313
I guess you should quit bench pressing. Maybe turn around on the bench so you're doing it as a laying leg press instead.
>>
>>77498421
my friends all say that my proportions fucking suck for bench pressing but whatever, I'll have a 2pl8 bench no matter what lol. I OHP 52.5 kilos as opposed to my 80 kilo bench
>>
>>77496687
why are you convinced of this?
>>
>>77493386
>Why is deadlift so hard for some people?
my dainty wrists i can't grip what my legs could push
>>
>>77491789
I had a 154 lb OHP before I was near 2pl8 bench lol
Just one of those things
>>
>>77494755
Not that anon but similarly I broke my back and currently my squat for reps is the same as my OHP (200 lb)
>>
1pl8 OHP standard is stupid, it's too easy of a goal

>>77498989
I'm kinda freaking out. I can currently OHP 5x5 @ 70kg, but we have basically the same bench, what the fuck
Same height as you, way fatter tho
>>
>>77499081
>fatter but higher OHP:bench ratio
uh thats not normal is it?
>>
>>77499081
Do you do dips?
I can do 2x5 at BW + 2plate
I guess if you're heavier than me then weighted dips would be tricky, but I feel like smashing heavy sets of dips have been great for my bench
>>
>>77499093
I stopped benching when I did 5x100kg. I can currently do 1 or 2 100kg ohp and can probably bench more but I think it's funnier if I say I bench and ohp 100kg
>>
>>77499137
>europoor has never benched or OHPd 2pl8 but probably claims he has done both
grim
>>
>>77499142
Bench doesn't help my clean/snatch, why would I do it
>>
>>77499106
I'm fairly certain I can't do dips at all. I'm currently about 115+ kg, maybe more. I will definitely add some more chest work though.
>>77499093
I don't know, man. When I was benching 2pl8 I OHP'd 90kg for two singles. I can do strict lat raises with 20kg. I think I legit neglected chest compared to shoulders and triceps. I do like 8 sets of chest per week, that can't be good right?
>>
>>77498860
A few reasons

1. OHP is one of the most "cheated" of the big six
>dropping hips
>bending knees

2. OHP is one of the slower progressing of the big six because the muscle groups it uses are much weaker
>so if you're progressing from "can't do 1pl8 to doing 1pl8 for reps" in a month, you must be using a stronger muscle group

3. OP is a faggot
>>
>>77499290
so you think 1pl8 OHP is measurably more difficult than the rest of 1/2/3/4? because i definitely don't
>>
80x6 bench
130x6 squat
140x4 deadlift
52.5x6 OHP

my goal is to hit 3pl8 squats, 1pl8 OHP and 160kilo deadlifts -all for reps- before the end of the year. Hopefully those are doable, im bulking to 85 kilos which should help

Measurably easier? Absolutely not, and that's what OP's and others' posts imply.

>I’m closer to 1pl8 OHP than I am to 2pl8 bench, 3pl8 squat or 4pl8 deadlift. I think I’ll have a 1pl8 OHP for reps in a month or two.

>i hit 135x4 OHP in six months and i wasn't even OHPing for most of it
>>
>>77491953
It is possible to super suck at bench and to be good at getting the weight moving on ohp
>>
>>77499450
i AM the second poster you're quoting and i assure you my form is strict. legs together, 0 hip or knee drive, maybe just the slightest bit on the last rep where i'm allowing for a little cheat. and yes, the only times i OHPed for the first 20 or so weeks was when the smith machine was broken. though an AD press (what i was doing) is basically just an OHP with leg drive taken out of the equation and strict form enforced by stabilizing the torso

the simple fact is that we are all built differently and have different strengths and weaknesses. some people can rep 135 on bench the first day they walk in the gym and get to 2pl8 in 6 months. it took me 2.5 months to get 135, and i probably won't hit 225 until around a year. virtually no one hits 1/2/3/4 all at once. your assessment that OHP is or is not measurably easier doesn't say anything except about yourself. in my case, yes, it literally is *measurably* easier than 2pl8 bench. i've measured it

also
>>I’m closer to 1pl8 OHP than I am to 2pl8 bench, 3pl8 squat or 4pl8 deadlift. I think I’ll have a 1pl8 OHP for reps in a month or two.
there's nothing ridiculous about this statement at all. if you're close to a 1pl8 OHP there's no reason to believe you can't be repping it 1-2 months from now. it's not like it's a 3pl8 bench where there could be half a year between when you first hit it and when you're repping it for volume
>>
When I was 4 years old I saw something like a strongman competition on TV where they were doing the single dumbbell press and I was so fascinated by it that I started doing it with my Mom's gymnastic dumbbells and I kept doing it all the way until my teens. At that point I already had heavier adjustable dumbbells but was completely clueless about lifting or any other lifts for that matter. I was mostly just doing curls, Arnold press or the single db press. By the time I learned about lifting and touched a barbell for the first time I could already strict press 110 and that was almost exactly my bench, too.
>>
>>77491789
My OHP best is currently 3@60KG & 1RM@65kg while I struggle to bench 85kg, what gives ?
>>
I felt like a God when managed 65kg 3x5 strict.

Yeah and the foids miring you is insane because most can't lift 1pl8
>>
I started out as a weak fuck who could barely OHP just the bar a few times. Now I do 8x45kg which is still crap I guess but hey at least it's improvement and only took a few months. I could maybe do it with 50kg but I weigh only 80kg and feel like my form would suffer.
>>
>>77501814
Keep it up anon, congrats on the progress. You can easily get to repping 1 plate with strict form at 80kg but it will take at minimum a few more months if not a year, but you'll get there
>>
>>77501772
Based as fuck, congrats bro.
>>
1.5 months back into lifting after 5.5 years off and I am now up to 105 OHP, 145 bench, 225 squat, 315 dl

That's fairly normal, I hit 1pl8 OHP before any of the others too. I find as long as you OHP consistently (most don't) you'll rapidly progress to 1.5pl8 but then hit a brick wall, and then it takes months to add a few pounds. But the thing is, you also quickly regress when you stop OHPing, i didn't train it for about a month and half (I don't drive and my local gym was closed, bullshit renovations) and could only do 70kg for 6, when before stopping I had 90kg for 4

For me the hardest of 1/2/3/4 is the 3pl8 squat, where it only counts if you hit depth, I think most people don't even hit parallel which is why so many claim to have massive squat numbers yet their legs are tiny

I now bench 315 with a 345 squat and 400 dead lift. I yes I do work out all lifts equally.
