Optometrists don't want you to know this but you can keep wearing the same contacts indefinitely

>>

people have been sent to jail for this type of advice before, example: the jackass telling people to take big doses of a specific vitamin to get gains, then some dumbass /fitty came back saying he took the advice and his eyes were yellow and bloodshot due to being on the verge of overdosing.
>>
>>77509054

You've still got to take them out at night, but you can put them back in the next day. I've been wearing the same pair for six months at least

The instructions on the Kroger contacts solution says to gently rub the contacts for 20 seconds to remove calcium buildup after you wear them. I’ve been wearing the same pair of daily contacts for about 2 months now for about 2-3 hours once a week. Obviously I’m going to throw them out but as long as you’re taking care of your contacts, cleaning them and also cleaning the case, you can definitely stretch it a lot. But you 100% should throw them away when you put them in and get that feeling there’s something irritating your eye.

>>77509058
Holy shit I remember that. Wasn’t his kidneys fucked too?
>>
>>77509048
I just wear glasses

daily contact user here.
you can wear them for months, but they degrade after a while and you can notice it. they start to irritate your eyes.

id like to get lasik, but the flap issues scare me. I might forget one day and rub my eye.

I buy 1-month ones and wear them for 3-6 months until they dry out and become uncomfortable.

My uncle did that because he didn't give a shit.
After a few months of uninterrupted wearing he started getting some weird lines approaching the pupil. Doc told him he had to take them off, get some drops, and hope the shit went back before reaching his pupils or he'd go blind.
He probably listened to the doc as much as he listened to the optometrist who gave him the contacts, so that's the whole story I've heard. He's not blind and he's never ever wore contacts again, though. Also no glasses, he just couldn't be arsed to.
Do this with story as you wish

that's what i do
i buy monthly lenses, and wear them until they break when i clean them
i do clean them everyday overnight though, but i wear them for like 5+ months instead of one month
i did that for decades and never had any problems, my prescription remained the same

>>77509145
look for SMILE, there is no flap
>>
>>77509145
>flap issues scare me
vastly overstated, with a good procedure and proper post-op it heals perfectly and you'd need a serious eye injury to rip it open, even some pro fighters have gotten lasik and they never had any issues. But as others said there are even more advanced flapless procedures nowadays, poverty is basically the only valid reason to remain near-sighted at this point
>>
>>77509048
I used to think contacts were a buy once deal but they're actually disposable LOL what a fucking scam
>>
>>77510877
you thought that a thin gel membrane would last forever?
>>
>>77510881
Why shouldn't it? What kind of stress is it exposed to
>>
>>77510887
more than 10k blinks a day, also you really should remove them at night and putting them on and off wears them out a lot.
There are implantable contact lenses which are put behind your cornea, but obviously this requires surgery
>>
>>77509048
femtolasik motherfucker
>>
>>77509048
Nah they go bad eventually. But you can damn sure wear them longer than they say. Also for some reason my left contact always goes bad first so I keep my old contacts and rotate in an older right contact to keep on truckin'. Of course if I weren't poor I'd just use dailies.

>>77510877
Old school hard contacts were, but they're less comfortable.
>>
>>77509048
>wearing contacts instead of just training your eyes
eyelet cope. I bet you pin too, faggot.
>>
>>77510790
This I believe, but wearing them that long then risks causing damage to the eye if they start to break down. I once dropped a lens when putting it on and it took me a while to find it. Then I washed it thoroughly and put it back, but it irritated me for the rest of the day. When I finally took it out I discovered it had a tear, and naturally my eye was sore for a couple of days after.
>>
>>77509048
I've been using the same disposable "one a day" lenses for about two years now when my old prescription expired and just store them in cheap supermerket own brand solution. 50 bong bucks a month saved.
>>
eyepatch came today. going to try switching it every 30 mins to see if it fixes my myopia
>>
>>77509048
>>77511486
My friend got a corneal ulcer doing this and almost lost ability to see.
>>
>>77511775
Doesn't it potentially give you some horrible thing where you end up constantly seeing a double image instead of just sometimes
>>
>>77509147
>I wear them until I've damaged my eyes enough to save a few bucks
based retards
>>
>>77510790
I have weeklies that I wear for months, usually 2-3 months and I only wash them once or twice a week, and 2 or three nights a week I don't even bother taking them out, I just sleep in them and continue the next day. If my eyes are a little itchy I just squirt contact solution directly into the contact on my eye
>>
tip: dilute some super glue into the contact solution & it will make your lenses nigh indestructible
>>
>>77511782
i have never heard that. maybe you are thinking of lasik surgery

I had it too. Acanthamoeba keratitis is the name
Took two years to kill it, and im still getting surgeries to treat complications from it over 3 years later
I didnt get it from leaving my contacts in though; i was wearing dailys and taking them out like i was supposed to. I think i showered with them once and got extremely, cosmically unlucky
Shits not worth it bros
>>
>>77509048

The fit version of crystal threads. Nice. That's fun.
>>
>>77509431
All of these will leave you with severe eye issues and your eyes will revert to being shit in a few years anyway. Don't risk your health on these shady surgeries.
>>
>>77509106
Idk why you would want to advertise your genetic inferiority to the world but you do you.
>>
I wanted to try contacts but I just can't bring myself to touch my eyeballs

>>
>>77513210
Sauce.
>>
>>77513272
They are. Most aren't secure enough to admit it or you only interact with them in the real world so they feel they cannot admit it.
>>
I did this with dailies and got a severe eye infection. Turns out the permeable layer hardens and prevents your eyes from getting oxygen and repairing or removing debris. Your contacts always have dirt behind them they said.
>>
>>77511779
There's always a risk with contact lenses, 20 years ago when I first started wearing them there were a ton of options including one a day disposables, or lenses that you would wear for one month or even a whole year, the latter of which I chose initially because it worked out cheaper. If you clean, store and steralise them properly and they are not damaged or worn I don't see how there is any increased risk. If your optician denies this you might want to check if he's rubbing his hands as you leave the surgery.
>>
>>77512620
Surely since anon posted a skank he has never met his advice is sound
>>
>>77513212
Has nothing to do with genetics, cunt.
>>
>>77513210
>>77513752
technically the machine being digitally controlled will always leave microscopic indentation of the laser movements, which will lead to hallows on low lights
it is improving with technology but i guess it will always be a thing?

the best surgery are lens implants which is the most expensive i think?
but it has the advantage of being reversible with no modification or damage to the eye
it can also be updated with new lenses if ever your eyesight changes overtime
that's what i want to do in the future
>>
>>77514134
>If your optician denies this you might want to check if he's rubbing his hands as you leave the surgery.

I love this bit where you guys act extremely cheap, like you literally saying

>the latter of which I chose initially because it worked out cheaper.
>because it worked out cheaper

But then accuse the trained professional of being the money-grubbing jews because they say you shouldn't wear contacts for months at a time. Yeah, you're totally not the jew for choosing certain things because they're cheaper and wearing shit on your eye for months longer than you're supposed to. Fucking faggots
>>
>>77515450
>jew detected
I'll explain it since you're retarded; doctors, dentists, opticians, and "experts" are often fucking useless and/or want to sell you something. Credentialed retards are entitled and think they're better than everyone else for rote memorization quizlet shit. They simply want to make a buck in 999 cases out of 1,000. Solving issues is NOT profitable. Repeat customers are. Simple as, kike faggot.

How are you people cheaping out on contact lenses? It's not that expensive unless you have astigmatism.
>>
you can just train your eye muscles and restore your vision
>>
>>77509048
Don’t do this. I tried wearing two-week contacts for a whole month. It gave me an eye infection and the contacts started wearing down and tearing apart.
>>
>>77515597
my mom always wore two-week contacts for a month as a rule and after decades she was still fine, but she did clean them in peroxide almost daily (which probably ended up being as expensive as replacing the lenses more often would have been but what can I say)

>>
>>77515591

$750 a year for me cuz if that
Worth it though.
Glasses are annoying and Lasik is a scam.

turns out astigmatism ones actually cost a bit less. this whole I was overpaying for shittier vision

My optometrist keeps trying to call me to come in so they can order new hard contact lenses and jew some money off me and the government. After a year they insist they are too scratched to keep using.
Any anons also use scleral lenses? I can never decide if the discomfort is worth the visual gains - better than 20/20 with them, but still have some double vision in high contrast scenes
>>
>>77509080
yellow eyes is usually severe liver damage/failure. idk about kidneys
