That's not an upper back lift, Mister Dyel

Upper back/lats/traps/whatever

Upper back is barbell rows, easily my strongest exercise.

The absolute state of this board

you should do 1 set of light cable face pulls to failure every workout
>>
>>77510682
please do describe how much more you're standing up and jerking the weight as you get 'stronger'
>>
I start every workout with some variation of horizontal chest supported (cable) pull or sometimes a rear delt variation of that. I see limitless potential in the horizontal axis pulls but I only do pulldowns behind the neck every now and then to not completely neglect vertical movements.

Only females and faggots care about "muh perfect form". Go try ballet or something, fag.

form is important you fucking nigger retard
it's just not important on rows

>you have no way to measure if your legs just got stronger or if you stand more upright or if you found other technical cue which makes you more effective but doesn't mean your upper back got stronger at all
>>
>>77511041
Ever try this with a cable? I take two lycra D-handles and move the rubber part so the thick part of the lycra is exposed. Grips better, kinda molds into my hand.

severe shoulder impingement speedrun any%

cheating on barbell rows is actually optimal

Nta but I don't think that movement pattern itself fucks otherwise healthy shoulders t. I have had years and years of shitty shoulders. But if you already have irritated af shoulders then you will likely not be able to the movement.

There's also the high pull explosive version but I believe that's all just traps keeping things together after legs start the movement and no longer delts really.
>>
>>77511250
You have years of shitty shoulders because your main moving muscles are much stronger than your rotator cuff muscles. This leads to imbalances and shoulder pain while trying to progress lifting.
The movement pattern is fine, you just need to get a comfortable grip width. Shoulder impingement is LITERALLY not real and outdated science
>high pull explosive version but I believe that's all just traps keeping things together after legs start the movement and no longer delts really.
Yeah, they are mostly upper trap, some more upper back and hamstring. Also biceps/brachs depending on how much you use them. I like high pulls a lot

>>77511241
for real. this one sucks and it's not one you can do heavy for growth. you just limit yourself to a cucked ROM with low weight when you could do rows, flys, or shrugs to much greater effect
>>

I don't do the vertical pulls or whatever the name was for shoulders but not because I fear it doing something to my shoulders, I just don't think about the movement. My shoulders have got better as I aged thankfully, I was a sick fuck as a teen and young adult, and this is the year when I was first able start even benching 3-4x a week as in every training session and the high frequency works fine if I just remember to lower the weight like the pros do. When in doubt always lower the weights, you still acquire strength and adaptations all the time. Still having a small weak point with direct side delt training, I just gotta use the same pattern and use 1kg dumbbells for on set if I have to but keep the frequency going.
>>
>>77511269
benching 3-4x a week is retarded assuming it's straight bench with no variations
>>
>>77511315
I have three levels of different weights I advance in (easy, mid, mid-heavy) by doing one work set after warm-ups and usually doing +1 rep compared to what I did last time the same weight appeared. I write down blocks and when I advance to the point where all the sets are getting too intense and I might get strained, I reset/deload while doing progress and getting mid-intermediate adaptations. I don't think I have failed a rep in months but I always deload when I feel strain is coming or my life becomes fatiguing in some other areas like work and I have to reset a bit.

High frequency works very well this way because I get to standardize my technique more every session because I had big problems with the wrist or elbow position being different every single time so it's pretty technical. Even if I was getting strength adaptations all the time, evidenced by technique going to shit mid-set but still getting all the reps by forcing it thru strength gains.

Sometimes I use variations like stop-benching for a block and different assistance work. Has worked so far because like I said, I'm still far from late intermediate - early advanced level where I would have to bench full month to get +1 rep in any set, I get one more every session (of course legit reps so it's challenging but not such reps that I need to super hyped or I fail, I dislike that kind of training).
