My parents introduced me into sports when I was little:>Taekwondo>Tennis >Swimming >Track >Football soccer If I wasn't a lazy cunt I could have achieved more. Maybe TRY to get pro at something (at least two cousins tried). I had the time, youth and my family was solid upper middle class so I could afford instructors, good equipment, etc.
>>77517373>Maybe TRY to get pro at somethinglol no you wouldn't. Everyone says this.
>>77517382Out of all the people I know maybe one out of a hundred went pro but the rest who tried still participated in tournaments, competitions, played sports in college, for scholarships, etc. I think it was worth the try
>>77517373My parents also introduced me into sports when I was pretty young, but I was legitimately SHIT at every single sport I ever tried. It causes me self esteem issues
>Taekwondo>Tennis>Track>Football soccerAll pretty much useless and make you a DYEL. >SwimmingThe only good thing since it developes your whole body giving you a wide frame.>Maybe TRY to get pro at something All the "pros" retire by 30 since their bodies are destroyed and they can't go on. Also going pro implies becoming a roidtranny, which even worsens this situation.
>>77517414Post body
My father was taught how to play golf and ride horses by my grandfather but the asshole never thought convenient to teach me
>>77517373not introducing/forcing your children to sports should be seen as child abuse. Every non sports kid I knew growing up was perma 40% bodyfat and/or a huge faggot.
>>77517373i can relate OP. Growing up i was one of those anti-sport kids which i know now is cringe. i wasn't totally sedentary because of skateboarding thankfully but i didn't play any team sports until my late 20's. now i know that sports not only make you far more athletic than lifting alone will, but there is a communal aspect to it as well. playing sports is a great way to overcome being an introverted retard and make friends. if i ever have a kid i will definitely make sports and martial arts a big part of their life.
>>77517443>Growing up i was one of those anti-sport kids which i know now is cringe.I hope my parents would have talked me out of that cringe anti-sport phase. They tried to get me into sports but probably didn't know how to motivate little autistic me who would rather spend time playing PS2 and isolating
>>77517408Kek same, only sport I did in high school was cross country. No real skill just running consistently, I wasn't even good but I had fun, met new people.
When I was 7 a friend and I wanted to join a soccer club but we kinda knew we were both shit so we never even trialed and asked our parents to find an alternative instead. They signed us up to the local sports club and we went to 4 training sessions a week. 1 session was just games and team sports, 1 was gymnastics and 2 were track. I was good at track so I started competing when I was like 8 all the way until I was 18 and in the meantime I still went to all the other sessions. Dominated my district for like 6 years or so, pretty much won all the regional competitions but whenever it was state level I got blown out. Eventually figured I wanted to drink, smoke, go to clubs and fuck bitches, so I quit track. I don't think it was a good decision but at that point my "career" was already over anyway.
>>77517373you should play paddleball there's a thread on /fit/ about it right nowit's never too late to shoot for the stars, anon
>>77517373Well you can’t change the past so quit whining and start changing yourself now, be that better version of yourself. It seems your parents only really fucked up by letting you grow up into a whiny gay retard who is only good for feeling sorry for himself. There’s never going to be a silver bullet in life.
>>77517435I didn't engage or learn any skill growing up and I'm sure it's really harmed my self-confidence. I feel incompetent and am slow to learn new things because of it, I have no outlet for competitiveness or creativeness, and I have no activities that I can identify with or engage with friends in. My life is very boring and unremarkable, I would not want to introduce a girl to it because I am embarrassed. I try to learn some sports but I'm doing it from a desperate sort of perspective rather than one of enjoyment, and it is really unpleasant. I am thinking of learning volleyball, because I have been trying to get better at swimming but I still really suck. It just feels weird frantically trying to learn tennis or something to stop being depressed but that's how I'm perceiving my current situation
>>77517432Eh same, overall my father is cool but never taught me anything, even worse, he would poke fun at me for not being able to change a tyre or build furniture...
>>77517373Eh, a kid is only as good as they want to be, and even though I was forced into rugby I didn't ever bother to play well enough to impress my Dad.He'd scream and punch the dashboard, the car door, hit the steering wheel on the way home, then he'd be offering be mcdonalds or whatever I wanted if I played well. Parents are retarded, just gotta let kids do what they enjoy, as long as it isn't destructive.
>>77517408Same, especially things like football where you had to have good footwork, or anything that required flexibility. >>77517414Swimming also lowers your bone density. Football and any sport where you run around is best when young, and some upper body exercises included is good, like tennis, rugby or gymnastics.>>77517443>>77517482Honestly, same. Sports were played by annoying pigheaded kids with parents whi overly gassed up their egos, and were usually genetically gifted, fuck those guys.>>77517553Nice of them to do that, but 4 a week sounds excessive, where is the gaming time?
>>77517408Kek
>>77517663Parents just don't know how to motivate their kids correctly
>>77517373i alsways hated sports because it was basically about how much you could cheat.
>>77517414Poor pros retiring at 30 as millionaires :(. Thank God we can keep working until our 70's so we can pay the bills.>>77517373I was a retard too. I did soccer, karate and a bit of swimming. The only thing I ever stuck to is working out. I am in shape, but being an actual athlete would be 10x better. I love lifting, but I have to put up with my stupid white collar job instead of pursuing my physical limits and competing in a relevant sport.>>77517408I was shit in when I was a kid too, but the things is, at that age, I wasn't aware that in order to be good at something we must practice it again and again. So I tried things one time, found it difficult and gave up. Now, I have a much better mindset, I actually put effort into the things I want to achieve. It's a shame I didn't know anything about effort back then.
>>77517408You have to keep at stuffMy 3 year old son is good at fishing because I've taken him fishing so many times He didn't just know how to cast
>>77517373Do you have money now? Take up sailing
>>77517373>muh achievementsI'm sure this would have made you so much happier anon.
>>77517373Do you have a time machine? No?Stop bitching. Do something now!
>>77517570volleyball is my main sport. i love it and in my experience the community has been friendly. i play sand and indoor, i recommend trying both and focusing on the one you enjoy the most. volleyball isn't an easy sport though. lots of jumping and your timing has to be perfect. but the challenge is motivation to grow and learn. also why not try learning an instrument or something? you can learn almost anything for free by watching youtube videos. it's not too late, thank God for neuroplasticity and neurogenesis.
>>77518133I think a lot of young people today think they're going to live forever in this world, they don't realize they don't take any of this stuff with them when they pass on. The whole point of this life is to develop your character so you may better serve God in the next life, nothing more nothing less.
>>77517373Same. 6’5 and ever since I was a little kid my parents made sure to instill in me that sports were only for fun and to focus on school. By the time I was like 13 I didn’t really see the point in sports. Didn’t even know scholarships were a thing until after I tapped out of basketball and football.
>>77517373You might not have missed much.I tried a few different sports as a kid but never kept with them.I had terrible posture and have (as in, still have) below average proprioception. Nobody ever thought to assist with such basic movement so I just kind of flailed around, complained about pain that I did not understand how to explain, and adults thought I was intentionally goofing off.In highschool it was already over. I contemplated joining a thing but it was mid junior year and by that point every class and club was actively hostile to total beginners and expected to not have to handhold the basics of moving and breathing correctly. I would have entirely failed my art elective if it wasnt the one thing besides games that I actively did more than once in a blue moon. Gym class was just an excuse for cliques to "accidetally" hurt the kids they disliked, so I usually opted to just walk on a treadmill or something when the option was given. It did not help that in the sports I tried as a preteen, I made no new friends, spoke with nobody because of no time to and nobody cared about talking with me. Later on, in middle and highschool, literally everyone I knew who was really into sports was some form of bully with a hood mentality despite not being in a city.Nowadays, besides gym I ride a bike. Don't have to worry about moving wrong because I lock into the machine and get immediate feedback if I'm off somehow. Don't have to deal with other people being cunts directly to me. If I need a break, I dont have a whistle blowing at me or team I have an obligation to.I just ride.
>>77517373My mother wanted me to do some sport, rightly so, but they were all team based and I hated it. I could never fit in.
>>77517373You wouldn't have gone pro anyway lol. You're obviously not that gifted anyway, or you could have gone pro without tryingSports arent worth it in the long run anyway brah, anyone who played any sport seriously has some kind of fucked up life long injury. For me it was rugby and my ACL and knee are destroyed on one leg, which permanently means I'll be a dyel in the leg department now. Of course my nose is fucked too just like every rugby broOne of my bros has a fucked up collar bone and shoulder that prevents him from even benching right, fucks with a lot of other upper body exercises too.And you're even more fucked if you end up hurting your back...Just stick to gym, sport injuries suck. Gym is a lot better for you and safer if you just want a healthy body
>>77517373Cool but.. random papers a degree.. ok mediocre and some master at none, fencing dope tho
>>77517373it's funny because the only real achievement of the girl is getting a medal in a niche sport competing against other girls.Other chuds will understand what I'm talking about.
>>77517373my mothers friend had a son who tried to be a tennis pro in scotland, the same age as andy murrays brother. didn't make it but the time and money investment was huge. years of his life of total commitment. just not good enough in the end.i think the infinte jest guy said somethign similar about tennis that tennis pro's are decided at 13 or something like that, the field is reduced to those who will commit 100% and then even then almost all don't make the cut.
>>77517373Crazy how normies suck the dick of these meaningless academic "achievements" as something laudable and not the branding of a drone
