I want to experiment on myself and widen my upper body - note, widen - as fast as possible. I'm talking like stupid triangle swimmer build. Hyperfocus on chest-back-shoulders. I'm noob but thin, always have been slightly athletic without trying

What kind of routines should I seek out that are home gym-able? I will be a test tube, an experimental /fit/ homunculus for your entertainment if only (You) give me the direction

Dunno, wide grip pull-ups? I'm just a tourist.
>>
pullups are gunna be your best bet for back at home. granted you gotta get form down or youll just have your biceps do all the work and waste your time

Which aspect of the form changes it from mostly a shoulders/back workout to biceps? I know you're supposed to be as straight as possible without letting your body swing. Are we talking full-ups or pull ups?

I have started doing dead hangs (try to do 5 for 1 minute each, but usually can get 3 1-min and 2 45-sec) for forearms but encountered issues with my armpits hurting like hell (consulted with a friend who provided helpful advice for training that muscle to prevent that)

Its mainly grip angle, pulling up with the palms facing you is a chin up whereas a regular pull up has your palms facing away. Grip width also makes a difference as a wider grip(wider than the shoulders) hits the back a little more at the cost of ROM.

well yeah i know chin vs pull up. thats good to know that widening the grip helps. My pull-up bar (one of the shitty doorframe ones, but I have a full like standing set thing in the basement) goes out to little nubs so maybe I'll try using those. Thanks for the info

Spamming pull-ups though, got it. What else /fit/?

not just the grip. start with scapulR pullups so you know what it feels like to actually activate the right muscles and youll build up alot more strength earlier on. ghe width of your grip actually does alot less than youd think comparatively

just focus on pulling with your elbows as opposed to your hands
also don't fall for that "arch back and squeeze your traps at the end" meme unless you're using a wide grip, the traps' role should just be to move the scapulas in an advantageous position for the lats at the start

>thats good to know that widening the grip helps
all grips are useful and you should rotate them from time to time, narrow hits more "lower" lat and wider targets the teres muscles (tldr upper lats)

dont skip arm day though
side delts, obviously not gonna make that much difference since it all depends on your frame, having big bulbous spheres on your shoulders definitely wont make you look narrower
also triceps seem fairly important, and just overall arm thickness
back is the number 1 priority, but dont ignore other muscles

>New York Times sportswriter Dave Anderson measured Laver’s left arm. His wrist was 7 inches around, an inch more than his right wrist. His forearm was 12 inches around, an inch and a half more than his right forearm. Anderson wrote that his left forearm was the same size as that of heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano and an inch and a half larger than that of boxer Floyd Patterson.
