I'm conflicted. Sometimes it feels really good to have a random gym frendo tell me they've been observing me, are proud of me, and to keep up the good work. Other times, I can't help but take it as a reminder that my current state is still a pitiable one. I appreciate the praise but also look forward to the day when people see me and don't think I need words of encouragement. Any other anons deal with this?

No, that's not one of the retarded thoughts my brain inflicts on me. I have others but when a friend says I'm looking bigger I just do a front double bicep and make a dumbass face
