Will walking 10K steps per day keep me healthy?I'm not talking about getting ripped or anything, just being heart-healthy and self-dependant as I age
>>77552497just go for a walk u idiot
>>77552499Yes, but is it enough?
>>77552504yeah, it is. its just something u do every day and like not think about and then ur so happy all the smartest people walk
>>77552497yea its probably the most bang for ur buck you can possibly do. the body is a walking machine and your feet are blood pumpsu need at least 5% incline for optimal fat burn
>>77552497walking is like, the ultimate cheat code, bro. Healthy heart, even to lose weight (I would suggest walking more than 10k if wanting lose weight or if you have a treadmill that can incline). so yes, it's enough. It's crazy to realize the average American doesn't even do this.
>>77552504Yes if you’re tired and relaxed when you get home
>>77552497There's nothing magic about 10,000 steps. It's a number that was made up by an Asian pedometer company to sell their product. Just get as much movement in per day as possible. The more you move, the healthier you will be.

The more you move, the healthier you will be.utter bullshit, it's like saying - the more water you drink the better, clearly that is not the case as that whaman that drank 7 liters in one go DIED walking is awesome but doing too much is too much - simple as 20 minutes, it IS ENOUGH, 15 minutes is ALSO ENOUGH, if you're gonna go hour and force pace to extreme you will get sick there's also the matter of HOW you walk, MOST people have no clue how to walk properly >>77553172>the "dips" given lean enough are ENTIRELY muscle balance resulting from tardo lifting and your innate locomotion pattern - how you walk - and you certainly without a doubt can be pushed into faulty locomotion and bad posture via "lifting">when you walk you ought not to step forward but push backwards mostly, the front leg ought to be straight in knee contacting the groundpictured will not grow from any kind of walk, it's gotta be in correct posture and gait, and if you weren't born Japanese you most probably don't have it naturally
>>77553195>walking for an hour at a brisk pace will make you sickbruh
>>77553206>>rowing for an hour at a brisk pace will make you sick>bruhit's cardio, too much is too much - simple as bot>>77553195>There's nothing magic about 10,000 steps. >>77553195>ENOUGH, if you're gonna go hour and force pace to extreme you will get sickThis is true, I work in the ER as a surgeon and at least half of the cases I get on a daily basis are from people walking for over an hour.
>>77552497Yes you should aim to get 10k steps in every day at a minimum. It won't make you healthy by itself but it helps a lot.
>>77553420>>77552671So what's the actual minimum?10K steps is a pretty big time commitment imo
keep you healthy ? Yes. Idk how many times youve walked 10k steps a day but that shit takes forever and really is a pain in the ass. You'd get way more benefits from just doing cardio, it doesn't even have to be anything crazy like running or legit cycling. Just power walk at an incline for 30 mins, a chill cardio bike sesh, 30 mins of zone 2 a day is as much as you need for the heart benefits and without fucking up your muscle gains
No car Anon here.My current job is 30 min away plus i walk all day at work. So its 1 hour walking commute plus the work itself. I average 24 K. My heavier walk days i walk 36K.There is so many benefits I cant begin to list it. But this alone isnt enough. I have been overweight and walked more on average with previous jobs. I genuinely enjoy the walks and it helps regulate my mood. In fact on my days off I often find a reason to walk to some food joint just because i crave the walk. Just hav earbuds and a phone to brain rot on. Using the phone is guilt free if you are walking. If any particular questions i can answer.
>>77552497You're going to need to have some form of resistance training. Hormone changes and the effeciency of protein synthesis going down result in lean mass losses. Why that's important is because skeletal muscle isn't just inert mass it's an endocrine organ and tied into brain health, digestive fuction, immune fuction, sexual function just about every system in the body. So it's important to retain or ever gain leanmass with the expectation of losing some of it while you can. To set you up for the most unbothered aging you can have.
>>77552497if all you do is walk, then walking will be a workout when you get old. aim higher if you don't want to be winded bringing the groceries into the house when you're grandpa age.
>>77554245that's a good way to think about it, annoying how much that makes sensethanks anon
>>77552497>10K stepsThis isn't an objective measurement of anything. You need to aim to walk a certain distance at a certain pace each day. I walk 7+ miles in ~3 hours each day, as an example.
>>77554245This is a fair point but I find that I usually end up having to/wanting to run or climb something during my walks.
>>77554245>if all you do is walkif all you do is something else you will be the grandpa that gave up on walking that is essential actually human defining way of locomotion >>77553195>>77553263>>77553281>>77554317>This isn't an objective measurement of anything. You need to aim to walk a certain distance at a certain pace each day. I walk 7+ miles in ~3 hours each day, as an example.or another example: 20 minutes of upright leisurely walk wherein front leg strikes with heel only slightly in front of you with STRAIGHT KNEE, and the pace is BELOW the threshold where you tense up anywhere and you don't hunch forward, you keep the posture upright and you focus on your bodily sensations it ought to feel SLOW, and stride ought to feel SHORT, it's NOT - in actuality you are moving at a fair clip like that, you are covering distance and you are getting cardio work in, that is because your legs are effectively longer, the movement in hips ought to be quite small, in knees a bit larger and the most movement ought to occur in ankles sure you can walk probably a lot faster pumping quads forward, sure you can do it for an hour straight, but that is NOT the most beneficial way of walking and that is not the proper walking mechanics it ought to feel seamless, you ought to use muscles you have never probably used like that before, like i remember manga/anime style wherein they portrait people with ridiculously long limbs proportions, overall body proportions, and they be striding moving just their legs and torso stays perfectly vertical and stationary - it's real, such walk is possible, the artist (of course over-exaggerated) didn't pull it out of his arse :D i've been doing it some yesterday between working tasks and i caught myself offguard a few times > oh fuck i am half a kilometer away from where i ought to be in a few minutes xD
>>77552497Not necessarilyIt’s associated with improved health but covariates could explain the benefits. For example, healthier people walk more. This doesn’t mean walking made them healthy.
>>77552497Walk your ass to a gym and work out
