The worse my financial situation becomes, the less I care about lifting.
And water is wet
>>77552569Well yeah lifting is a privilege. You can only do it if you have enough available resources
>>77552580I still have enough free time and discretionary income to be able to lift with zero immediate concerns, but my current financial situation is gradually showing worsening futures, which makes me want to reconsider if the effort is worth it, or if I should just stick to casual cardio and spend the rest of my time optimizing my pursuits. Would suck to have something bad happen in the future and regret all the time I spent lifting as a hobby that I could have spent further solidifying my position. Whatever. I keep lifting. I haven't felt this way about lifting before, though. Damn economy.
>>77552569Natural born loser.
>>77552604An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. It is better to not live with your head in the sand, engaged in self indulgence. Secure your assets.
>>77552569that was me at 21. Then I quit lifting to pursue education and money. Ended up losing all my gains and still not getting a job.
>>77552613I still lift, but compared to when I was younger, I put much less time into it. I'm mainly focused on maintaining my health and muscle mass at this point. Putting in as much effort as I used to acquire mass and improve my strength feels pointless. Why be a jacked bum? I need to keep my foot on the neck of financial insecurity.
When I was homeless, unemployed and sleeping in a hostel I still went to the gym everyday. It regulates your mood, provides structure to your day, and gives you something to hold onto. There are also good showers in the gym and it's a warm place to be inside. When you think about the benefits the gym provides, even if you're only there for an hour or so each day, it's well worth it even if the rest of your life is crumbing around you. Also on a personal level, I think it's funny in an absurdist way to maintain standards even when the rest of life looks bleak. It was winter, I was homeless, I had no job, and felt that my family had abandoned me. I could have just committed suicide but I chose to resist. Continuing with physical fitness made me feel like I was preparing for the road ahead. I didn't know what the future felt for me so it was important that I be ready, physically and it steeled my mind. Now, 2026, I have a permanent place to live, that I pay for with my own money from my job that I have held for years now. I still work out and I would encourage you to do the same, not to stop.
>>77552569your body is the one investment that nobody else can take from you
>>77552656You are a very wise person and I'm glad that things ended up better for you. Keep going.
>>77552656What a nice read to start the week with. You're awesome, anon
>>77552656How did you find employment?
>>77552656Every successful homeless to employment/stability story ive heard had people sleeping in cars and having a gym membership. access to showers, benefits from lifting, a heated environment with other people, and doing hard things, probably also helps you keep a normal mentality and stops you feeling dehumanized. Good job Anon
>>77552569Protein is expensive.
>>77553742For me it was more along the lines of "I only lift to build muscle mass and increase my strength, the effort this requires currently dampens my ability to improve my financial situation, I need to downscale my lifting efforts and focus on a general health routine until I can afford the time and energy this requires."One day, I will be back in action. For now, it's cardio and basic lifting to maintain health. I miss bulking. I miss long heavy lifting sessions. I miss maxing out with full strength. Boo. Gotta stay focused, though.
>>77552569God loves you more when you lift
>>77554197This reply made me want to work even harder on myself
>>77552657That won't stop some from trying
>>77552571Retards will disagreeInb4 water makes things wet

>>77553742you dont even need fucking protein dude youll just have more muscle is all. you can get just as lean and some would say its more beneficial to weigh less. i mean for instance im 185 and realistically around 15% body fat. I eat 185 grams of protein what difference realistically does it make being 150 at 15% body fat other than i can shart up more weight than you, if you are lighter you can run further faster and have less stress on your joints
