How many fitness hobbies can you have before it’s too much and you’re decreasing gains in the other hobbies by overtraining?

If I want to weight lift, and run, and hike, and rock climb, and swim, how many of those can I commit to a week before I’m screwing over the rest?

You can safely do 2 of those at the same time. Anything more you gonna have to do a lot of time management and strictly stick to a plan. If you are only doing these as a hobby with no plans to really improve all that much, you can do them all.

How many days a week do you have to put in to improve beyond like a hobby level?

Is there a single thread up on this board you wouldn’t say that about?

Start by calculating how much sleep and calories you can sustainably average, then subtract that from your total time and energy expenditure to find out bow many hours and how much energy you have left over available to be spent. Then divide that number by the amount and intensity of activities to find how much time and energy you can dedicate to each individual activity. The higher the number of activities, the time or energy spent on any one activity, the less will be available for the next activity. Eventually the marginal time and energy left available will approach zero.
