10 years ago I use to bench 225 for a working set of 3x8.After two kids, a masters, and losing 40lbs of fat, I decided to get back into weight lifting. I pathetically completed 3x8 of 95 just now….95…and I’m shaking trying not to vommit from over exertion.Pic somewhat related. It’s the home gym I just invested in and my workout partner working in.Tell me it’s gonna get better bros….
It will actually come back easier due to muscle memory. Could prob get back to 185 for reps in a few months, and then 225 with some hard work.
>>77553262I dont believe in this bullshit muscle memory thing. I used to squat 395lb and am back to just 285lbs. I dont see myself ever reaching close to 395lbs again.
>>77553313If you have experience lifting then your central nervous system adapts, it becomes capable of more poweful signals and recruiting more muscle fibers. This is a permanent lifelong benefit.
>>77553322whatever you say. Try standing under your largest PR after not working out for years and keep pretending you going to work your way up back to that again.
>>77553230>Tell me it’s gonna get better bros….probably not, it's very likely you lost a bunch of testosterone in 10 years so your bench 1rm will be stuck at lmao2pl8sorry bud, it's over
>>77553313nah, i once stopped squatting for a year and i regained all my strength in 2 months
>>77553230Brother, of course you will lose gains if you haven't lifted in 10 years and lost weight. Just start training again, and try not to compare yourself to your old self.I was a fat fuck, but I could bench a little over 210 kg. I decided I was tired of being a fat cunt and lost 40 kg. My lifting numbers got raped, but it didn't stop me from starting up again. I did lift while losing weight, and my lifts steadily went down, but I'm sure that helped in not having to start from scratch again. Lift man, it's so good for your body and mind.
every time i lift my right back makes a popping noisewas doing like 125 ohp last year, now can't even do 85 after I stopped working outdumbells dont seem to make that sound but weights are like 20lbs each arm instead of 60
That sounds pretty abnormal especially for a, former decently strong guy. I would think any decently fit white man should be able to put up at least 135 untrained. Are you indian or chinese?
>>77553230If you went once a week for the past 10 years instead of never, and only did 1 set per muscle group, you would’ve lost a much smaller amount of strength
