Any tips for lifting before you've achieved basic strength? After living like a slob for years, I am well below my baseline and am concerned with damaging my back. Even on baby weights, after a few sets, I feel a very slight sharp feeling in my spine when doing squats. It's not pain, but I can see how it could turn into painShould I immediately drop weight and continue my sets?
>>77553880It's always a form problem. It took me a few years of squatting before I could brace properly 100% of the time. Best to start with goblet squats or front squats since it's easier and more intuitive to keep the spine straight and core tight.
>>77553880You’d have to video yourself and compare it to what good form looks like. But holy fuck if you’re this out of shape maybe try walking first,

don't squat then
>>77553880>when your shoulders hurt and you can't do effective setsWork back up from the bar or wherever is easy to do even with a tweak. Learn the difference between balls to the wall(without purposely fucking up your joints) and super safe sets(you would hypothetically go to failure 5 days a week amd not accrue real injury only dull pain eventually). Apply that to any workout, learn to monitor what is lagging and do those first in the gym, learn meal timing based on goals, and find new ways to do different lifts that work for you.
