Are vitamins a meme or do they actually do anything?
>>77559909mostly a scam yes. the only one worth taking is vitamin d3 which you usually pair with vitamin k2.
The recommended doses from daily tablets are a meme yes because you actually need 3-5x that amount for any noticeable benefit and don't get me started on gummies those are the biggest scam in the industry you absorb nothing from those
Yeah. If you are deficient in a vitamin and take a supplement you will no longer be deficient in that vitamin. I would say that works.
>>77559909you have to do your research to find out what you actually need and find supplements that you will actually absorb.
Multivitamins are usually useless because they contain tiny amounts of everything, usually too tiny to matter much if you are deficient. Best use is to get a blood test and supplement anything you are deficient in. Vitamin D and K are the usual culprits. Vitamin B deficiency is also common. Omega-3 isn't a vitamin but unless you're eating fish regularly, supplement that too.

I take multiple supplements.>2,000 IU of d3>Multivitamin, primarily for boron, B vitamins, zinc and magnesium, and some further Vit. D at 500 IUs.>Algae oil, .5 to .9 mgs of DHA+EPA>Creatine I have been reading/watching media about diet and longevity and vitality for a decade now as a laymen, ever since I was very significantly low in Vit. D. It actually helped. I really needed it, and it is hard to explain how drastic the subjective/emotional effects were. At any rate, multivitamins have no risk, but some reward.
>>77559909Multis are mostly shit, but supplementing some essential stuff above the RDAs can be beneficial. Most of the best PED supplements are not essential nutrients and tend to be extracts of some odd foods.
There was a long term study released not long ago that tested multivitamins. Over 20 years the group using the vitamins aged 4 years less than the placebo group

Does vitamin d actually help with mood and depression? Any stories?
>>77560285depends entirely on your circumstances and whats depressing you. nobody is depressed because of a lack of vitamin d.
>>77559909Well most vitamins serve metabolic functions in the body, so they do something. Unless you mean the action of supplementing vitamins, which doesn't allow you much absorption unless you take it with food.
>>77559909I live in Seattle so I get very little sun. take 5,000mu of D3+k2.Made my dick way harder.Didn't know low vit D can cause dong problems.
>>77560285>>77560299Lel try reading some clinical studies of yet; yes severe vitamin D deficiency and depression are very heavily correlated. But no, vitamin D is not a single magical one-pill cure-all for depression in everyone.
>>77560390>vitamin D is not a single magical one-pill cure-all for depression in everyoneYou just proved his point
>>77560395Yes and no.>Meta-analysis of the effect of vitamin D on depression>https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/psychiatry/articles/10.3389/fpsyt.2025.1622796/full>Conclusion: ...vitamin D... associated with a moderate but statistically significant improvement in depressive symptoms.
>>77560285If the depression is caused by a chronic inflamation, it will help. But again, let's say you have an anxiety and insomnia because of magnesium deficiency. Magnesium will be used to activate supplemented d3 and it will make those anxiety and insomnia worse. So be sure to take d3 cofactors. Also keep in mind that your blood levels matters as at low levels it will be used just for your bones. Breaking bones in nature usually means death, so it's kinda a high priority. You should go above 40ng/ml=100 nmol/l for any effect besides bones.
OP here, thanks for all your replies. I bought these two. This should be enough to make sure I don't have any deficiencies that cause any problems.
>>77560259What even is this shit you keep spamming?
>>77559909No vitamin has been scientifically shown to exist in living beings. We find minerals in living beings and also outside like in the ground and in nature. But vitamins are completely a fake psyop.
>>77561339Hey guys, OP here again. Just wanted to report that my pee smells funny and is a bright greeny-yellowy colour.
