Went to the dentist recently to get a couple fillings done. After the doc administered the anesthetic I felt fine at first, but after a few minutes I noticed a weird feeling in the back of my throat, like there was something stuck there. After leaving I realized what I was feeling WAS my throat - it was swollen. Thankfully I could breathe okay (only the left side was was swollen) and the lump was gone by the time I got home. Did I have an allergic reaction to the anesthesia? And if so, why would it happen now? I've had to get a bunch of fillings done the last few months and it was never a problem before. Also, speaking of possible allergens, if I have reactions to SLS in toothpaste (gives me canker sores) does that mean I'm probably allergic to SLS in general and should avoid it in other products too?

>>77561361I'd ask a doc for an allergy test. I think there are some tests which sample a few dozen allergens at a time (such as by putting patches of them on your back or something). I would also mention your dentist visit and your concerns about anaesthetics when asking for that allergen test.
