Genuinely? I feel like I'm closing to the point where without implementing some good cardio, like cycling or swimming, I won't progress further into my lifts or just plateau for eternity

Not important. The cardio you "need" to progress is just high rep high volume work for the same lifts every now and then.
>>
>>77561432
Cardio has nothing to do with lifting at all. Cardio isn't bad, but it just won't affect your lifts or muscle mass in any way.

not important at all. the only difference I noticed by introducing cardio on non-lifting days was my recovery between sets improved but thats about it.

>How important is cardio for lifting
Basically, not important at all. The energy system is the furthest thing away from actual lifting.

Also, a lot of the stuff people do "for cardio" doesn't even significantly build cardio. Circuit training, sled pushing, jumping rope, cardio rounds, very-high rep sets, walking, uphill sprints, ect. "Cardio" is pretty much just cyclical activity done for a moderate (interval training) or long (LISS) duration. The other stuff will raise your heartrate, but so does lifting. Only this form of cyclical exercise actually TRAINS it.

Are you all fucking retarded or what? Cardio means you recover faster and better during rests, and performance wise its supporting your bodies outputs. You dont need crazy cardio, but to optimize you need some cardiovascular foundations in place.

do NOT disrespect the hybrid athlete who carefully balances his entire week around 4 days of u/l and 12 miles of running

his 25 minute 5k and 185x5 bench is the stuff of the gods
>>
>>77561432
Yes, it's important, because there's times when your capacity to produce ATP (aka transform oxigen into energy) fails before your muscles do. You'd feel tired but your muscle fibers aren't really done, yet you can't lift anymore.
Obviously as other anons had said this doesn't apply that much when you're exclusively lifting really heavy, like less than 5 reps per set. But even still, it matters for recovery between sets and after the workout.

cardio? is that spanish?

If you care about longevity and long term functionality get your cardio in. No distance shit, cap yourself at 6-10 miles, get fast
>>
>be me
>powerfatty
>4pl8 bench, etc
>decide to do an intro boxing course
>half the class is cardio-based exercises
>literally feel like I'm dying 40 minutes into an hour-long class
I don't know if it's important to lifting, but it's definitely important to long-term health. it's also nice tailoring workouts to benefit boxing, rather than just lifting for the sake of lifting
