First amateur boxing fight coming up in december. Exercises or drills that will help me not to be an embarrassment?
not OP but monitoring threadstarted boxing in August to supplement my lifting, but now all I want to do is box moreI can bench 4pl8, but get winded after a few rounds on the bag. what exercises do I do?
>>77577911Practice the jab and dip, dip and jab and the L step footwork drill. Score your points then reset, score your points then reset. Also be happy to "accidentally" close the distance and end up clinching for a cheeky break. Without knowing literally anything about your height, weight, style or training regime that is the best advice I can give for short notice improvement.
Dont you have a trainer who tells you what drills to do?
>>77577911>>77577923Ok lads I'm gonna help you out. First each morning drink 5 eggs raw. Then go fir a run. Next you get yourself a chicken, put it in a little enclosure and you catch it with your hands. Now add lots of jump rope. Now do 1000 setups each morning. After all this your training for the day starts.
>>77577911punch the other guy
>>77577911>Exercises or drills that will help me not to be an embarrassmentJust dont get knocked out
>>77577911if you're actually fighting then you need training in the ring. there's no self-drill that's going to help with that>>77577923>can bench 4pl8unless you're doing super high reps it will actively make you worseeverything is about conditioning around your lactate threshold, meaning you have repeated forays into the anaerobic zone combined with aerobic recoveryjogging and long core workout sessions are valuable for that because your punching power and movement should mostly come from your legs and core
>>77577965ok but how do i figure out which one is the other guy.
>>77577911Shadowbox daily and at max intensity. Footwork, angles and head work. Also timing is everything in boxing
>>77577911Make sure to do a ghost jab, ghost step, peekabo style + philly shell and dempsey roll. Insta win
>>77577911sterons
>>77577911I had a white collar fight a couple years, granted it’s not the same as amateur but I imagine if it’s your first fight the skill level is basically negligible In that case, my only advice is spam cardio and drop weights. I was doing weights once a week and kept a very good physique, rest of my sessions were boxing (3-4) at the end of every boxing session I would do 3 min rounds on the assault bike with high intensity then 1 min rest for 10 rounds, you can start at like 1 min on 1 min off and work your way up. And also do a bunch of runningAt that skill level pretty much all that matters is having some sparring experience so you’re not scared of getting hit and having a bigger gas tank. Good luck anon.
>>77577911sparringomni-directional weightless shoulder windmills/circles 100 reps if easy 1000-10k+ so forth. can add ultra light weights, 1,2,3 kg etc. it keeps the shoulders from gassing out from keeping the guard upHARD cardio to complement the steady basis from roadworkagility ladder/footwork drills>Exercises or drillsdo pushups, then leg squats that focus on the front of the foot instead of on the glute, then do jogging on the spot and repeat
>>7757878sparring training balancing. think about it
>>77577923Tabata assault bikeIf it's just your shoulders that get tired, lrn2relax them.>>77577995I'm shw and bench 4pl8 and I outlast lighter retards. All you need is spam mitochondria. Jogging and long core are useless. Power/movement come from hip and shoulder rotation.
>>77577911id say most important things are your core and back, id go with landmine 180 and pendlay rows, both explosively. landime 180 is fantastic because it forces you to work on your core to work on saggital plane, not just frontal plane like with most ab exercises. russian twists are good for that too but landmine is better because you do it standing and you need to raise the bar up, so you work your shoulders too. pendlay rows are overall the most unviersal i think, and great for athletes - regular rows like sitting or bent over are good too, but not as good id say
>>77577911>don't think the fight is serious>then they try to knock you out but are only strong enough to maybe wobble you if they get you on the chin
>>77578839Lifting heavy weights is like sprinting, you get good at recovering anaerobically faster. Also you probably practice the heavy bag and throw 100% meaning you are better at the motion too since it trains your muscles to hold more glycogen and recover faster. You would use a lot more energy fighting if you didn't train it a lot vs someone with better cardio but less time fighting.
>>77577911Do sprintsHill sprints, or sprint intervals on bike/bag/rower/air bike/allAssuming it's his first fight too you're probably just going to swing wildlyWork your jab in sparring just in case, if he can't get past your jab you can literally jab him for three rounds and winIf you prefer to box on the outside then spar in the ring as much as possible, and develop a sense of when you're getting backed onto the ropes, and tactics for getting off itJab and dip advice here >>77577937 is 10/10
>>77577911CARDIOARDIOThen bodybuilding routine. High reps, high amount of sets with lower weight.
>>77577911asK your coach
>>77577911To everyone who started boxing in this threadthe very first thing you should focus on is the fundamentals followled by your stress management, before your first fight your nerves will be through the roof and that will mess up your technique and game plan. Focus on keeping calm so that stress will impacts your technique the least. Don't do anything flashy, stick to the fundamentals, and do what your trainer says.
>>77577911Just remember, everybody has a plan until they’re getting their head snapped back by that jab.Same thing how everyone has a plan for the bedroom until they’re getting their head snapped back by that dick.
seconding all advice here to work on your cardio and jab/dodge routines. half of fighting is having the endurance to hold your arms up and swing for more than 20 seconds. after that its just a matter of training to box. if you have a fight coming up I assume you have a gym and/of a coach. if you're coach isn't a delusional bum, then do what he tells you
>>77577943He doesntBecause hes lyingEveryone else in this topic either knows that and is just taking the piss or theyre clueless larpers
>>77577911you got a fight booked in less than two months and youre asking 4chan what to do? youre fucking dead bro. my advice is bring a towel.
>>77577911You have a fight coming up in a couple of months, yet need to ask online about drills? If you are going to larp, could you please make it believable next time?
