Is cardio actually better for overall fitness or is that cope?
>>77581466overall fitness is a nebulous term that doesn't mean anything
cope
>>77581466It's unironically good for dick health
Strong guy who can't do an hour of work is pathetic and useless. Weak guy who can go all day is pathetic and useless. You need one for the other to mean anything at all.
Endurance cardio is for DYELs.Real muscular Chads (like me) are into HIIT cardio.
>>77581466Cardio doesn't do anything. Ask a runner to bench 2pl8. He can't do it.
>>77581466¿Por que no los dos?
>>77581466i can only go to gym on Saturdaysso i do power training from cold, then strength, then hypertrophy, then stretching, then cardiotakes me 2 hours i eat intraworkoutI've never had more gainsalso helps me eat less during the week lol
>>77582263impeccable logic
>>77582314The average runner can't squat 3pl8 either. You can run in circles all day, it won't help your lifts.
>>77582441>zombie apocalypse hits>lifters be lifting>die from zombie bites>rooners be roonin>stay alive because they are faster than the zombieslifting without cardio is cope and you know it you faggot weasel
>>77582457>Zombies aren't realYou're retarded
>>77582457Anyone can outrun a zombie just by walking slightly faster than a 90 year old man with a limpMore like>zombie apocalypse hits>everyone outruns zombies>Leaper mutant ambushes you and jumps on your back>runner is too weak to fight it off and gets eaten>lifter starts squatting it for reps>lifter gets mad gains>one-shots the zombie horde
It's all connected. You need raw strength to make your other work submaximal. Here's how you should build:Every phase: Constantly do lots of zone 2. You can keep building this for life. It's always time well spent and should be free in terms of recovery. I do at least 300min/week, most weeks more if I can.Max strength phase: Focus on low rep, heavy barbell movements. The goal is improving your 1rm to give headroom for the next phase.Muscular endurance phase: Focus on doing more work. Rucking uphill for longer or for more weight. The idea is more work done per hour. This requires a max strength base because everything done here needs to be suboptimal, and if your 1rm is low you will never build endurance on top of it.Speed phase: if you want to improve your pace you can do this after the muscular endurance phase. Do zone 3-5 and try to up your pace. This will be a shock to the system if you've been hitting z2 hard, your body will need to get used to moving this fast. You'll need to periodize because each phase is so expensive on recovery in different ways. During max strength, you can do a weekly speed session but don't try to push your time, it's just maintenance. Similarly during the non-max strength phases, doing a once or twice weekly strength session, ideally kept to 30-45min, just to maintain. For speed work, strength goes after. For endurance either works, before might be better to prefatigue. If you spend enough time in a period the others will become caps and swapping will do you good. That said you can chill in z2/max strength zone for as long as you want, the other phases are quicker to build and decay.Sample metrics to track:- 1rm for barbell movements- Z2 pace- Longest time spent in Z2 over a 24 hour/48/72 hour period- 5k/10k/HM/marathon times- Step ups done in 30min/60min with a 25% bodyweight pack- Push ups/pull ups done in 60 seconds- Max weight hauled up 1000ft in a single session
