started swimming lessons and the teacher is worth jack. give me your best advice for any of the techniques
>>77583975Get in the water, preferably a natural body of water like the sea, and just start moving about, treading water, floating, just getting comfy in the water and getting a feel for it
>>77583975Total Immersion is allegedly a good book for learning to swim more gooder.
>>77583975>breathing is key for buoyancy>tilting your head and arching your back will help you with floating on your back>crawl is more about gliding than about producing raw force>pool’s closed due to aids>old people and chatty housewives WILL block your lane
>>77583975learn to float
>>77584577>>crawl is more about gliding than about producing raw forceI just started swimming as well and this is good advice. Thanks.
Bump. We need a new swimchad thread.
>>77585316Do you have anything to contribute with?
>>77584577This is good advice already. One emphasis to this list is learn to glide before you practice a stroke
>>77584614This, exactly how I taught myself when I was a kid.
>>77583975Rhythm. Get your kick, stroke, and breathing into a consistent tempo that works for you. Also speed comes more from stroke frequency than stroke power. So 4 kicks : 1 pull is like a leisurely walk / slow jog, 3:1 is like a moderate trot, 2:1 is full gallop, and 1:1, if you can even manage it, is like an all-out falling-down sprint.
>>77585984i dont get it. how can you do 4 kicks for one pull?so far what i have learned from watching several videos:>kick with your legs, its the main part where you propel yourself forward, thighs stay slightly together, the kick comes from the shin, but dont drag your knees to your chest. instead, pull your heels to your butt, and keep legs in a v-shape. like this you drag more water.>the arms never pull completely to the side of the body, but angle while you bring the elbows to the side.>breathing. you need to breath saying "bubble bubble" under water, while facing downwards, then lift with your arms your body up and breath in. compeltely breathing out under water, so that you do not accumulate the other thing that is not oxygen in your lungs. cant remember the word.
>>77583975buoyancy cheat sheet>fat doesnt sink>shit is made of fat>bullshit floats on water>dont shit>keep belly full of shit
>>77583975Only advice I can give is to find a cadence that you can keep up that’s the key, everything else you can figure out and finetune once you get comfortable in moving for an extended period of time and not get gassed after 100 meters or whatever and the only way to really find your cadence is to just swim more.
>>77586096you glide before you do the next pull. see this >>77585785
>>77583975Pull ups. Since I've started to take my pull up training more seriously my pulling power in water also has increased.
