Should I buy a NUC? They're so cute...
yes i use my nuc to stream plex and generate pictures of very fat naked women using stable diffusion via the 3060 egpu i have hooked up
Seems too fragile.
Is the Skull Canyon NUC rare? I kind of want it for being "gaming grade".
>>108864408?>They're so cute...No you
>>108864408yes, these are the best, most reliable mini pcsavoid chinks
>>108864408Those things are about 0.5 litre and can get noisy if you work them hard. The same guts in a 1 litre box can run quieter.Consider lenovo tiny / hp mini / dell micro.Another potential annoyance is that it needs a power brick.
>>108865910
>>108866215Dell Micro is really nice. I've got a 3070. I also run a NUC which is nice but I like the Dell because I feel it has a little more "umph."
>>108866521what router looking thing is that?
>>108866590Glinet GL-AXT1800 with a fan I found on Amazon under it. It was overheating bad being used as a 24/7 home router
>>108864408What is it?
>>108866215>The same guts in a 1 litre box can run quieter.Instead of buying a jank tier mini, why not just chuck a NUC in a fanless chassis to eliminate noise?Akasa sells them for most NUC models in different form factors.
>>108866521Where's the UPS?
>>108864408thinkcentres are cuter
>>108868178>Akasathis is nice, thanks anon
>>108864408>Should I buy a NUC?if the mac mini counts as a NUC then yeahif not then no, they're overpriced as fuck for what they are
>>108868182I don't have one. I know. It's on the list!
>>108864408If you get one of these things, never change the RAM while the power adapter is plugged in. I fried one doing that luckily it was one of my cheap ones.Always disconnect the power adapter and wait a few minutes first. Apparently there is still some sort of power going to the RAM sticks even if the system is "off".
>>108870215>never change the RAM while the power adapter is plugged in. I fried one doing that luckily it was one of my cheap onesDam son. Are you serious?
>>108865687>skylake igpu>in skull_canyon_release_year + 10I know Skull Canyon had Iris Pro, but still.
>>108870317yeah well you don't have to take the battery out to change the ram in a laptop so I thought it would be fine. it's not like the cpu is supposed to be powered on when the pc is completely off.
>>108864408i like my hades nuctheyre pretty nifty little machines, i used one in my truck when i traveled and now it's on a shelf in my rack. i dont think i would recommend getting the shitty cube ones with celerons but if it has an i7 its worth it. the hades ones have dual nvme slots, i only have one populated but i boot it from usb and when i can get a matching nvme drive i wanna use raid 1 for the storage>>108865687i dont think so, i just picked one up on ebay a couple years ago for cheap>>108870366has an rx vega discrete gpu silly. you can also use both if you wanna pass it through to a vm
>>108868178None of those cases are sexy.
>>108866215>Another potential annoyance is that it needs a power brick. How is this still a thing in 2026 with USB-C PD and PoE and all that other good stuff.
>>108871617Your Hades has Vega, Skull only has its iGPU.Tho both also have TB3, so you could use an eGPU too.
>>108864408>Should I buy a NUC?Yes, get a used one.Much better performance than shitty ARM SoCs, at a comparable idle power draw, and much more reliable.
CMOS battery dead on my NUC8.... it's so over
>>108870366That's exactly why I want it. Gen 9 graphics has mature drivers on both Windows and Linux.
>>108875099>CMOS battery deadJust buy another one, Strull.
>>108876405it's not a cr2032it's so over
