You have a few different options. Install newpipe and use that. I doubt your rooted since most are not but you can disable the youtube app after. Use firefox with uBO installed. I haven't tried brave but I've heard that's another option.
For ifags, install adguard. Then you can "share" a YT link to it and it'll play without ads. uBO is also an option but doesn't support the "share" feature at this point.

The curse of A/B testing means that everyone's experience on YouTube is different, and nobody can give anyone else advice on how to fix things. My account can't watch videos now because I updated Opera and suddenly all videos were blocked because I have an adblocker. It was fine before, but I haven't been able to watch any videos for a week. Here in the Philippines it's a mixed bag. When I'm in the city I can hear some decent stations. I live in a rural area with basically no FM reception though. If I want to stand around outside in the hot sun I can listen to North Korean radio on shortwave which is a great experience. The lack of stations helps with FM dxing too.

Since people were talking about Revanced earlier, I suppose that's a good thread for asking.

For some time now, the app hasn't been working well on my wi-fi. I talking about videos taking a fuck while to start, lagging when I try to skip forward and downgrading their quality to 360, locking me out of the option to change it to a higher one when that happens.
What REALLY makes me scratch my head is that those bugs only happen on MY wi-fi. The app runs smoothly on mobile data. At first I thought it was my ISP, but on my grandma's house, where the internet provider is the same, revanced also works as intended.

Does anyone have ANY idea of what could possibly be causing this?
