Do I go for Nobara, CachyOS, or Bazzite as my very first distro? I've heard a lot about those three, about how they're the best of the best currently>inb4 some glue eater suggests Mint or Ubuntu
>>108873248CachyOS seems to have the highest rate of happy noobs, so I'd go with that one. Immutable distros are not a good first choice. Nobara is neat, but seems like a hobby project (thought CachyOS isn't some big league player either).
>>108873248>BazziteFEDora>CachyOSKGB shit>Nobara1 (one) person is maintaining the distro
Gentoo
>>108874488This. Stop being a retard OP and just go Ubuntu. It's so easy to set up even a window licker can set it up
>>108873248>my very first distro>glue eater suggests Mint or UbuntuYep, that'd be you. You're a glue eater if you don't go Ubuntu as your first distro. Unless you're doing gayming in which case gtfo to /v/ and use bazzite.
>>108873248cachy is overall the best distro in existence for people with triple digit iqs but without any crippling mental illnesses but it also has a higher floor than the others
>>108874741It's also the easiest to break because arch-meme
>>108874749ubunshit is way easier to break
>>108874749you have to want to break it and you have easy means of reversing retarded shit by just rebooting into an earlier limine snapshot

>>108874715Jooboontoo is ass.
>>108873248You have no authority to call anyone a "glue eater". Stay midwitted if you don't want to accept the real answer.

>>108873248bazzite is very noob friendly, any additional service not included is installed separate to the main os so you can easily remove them if there is an issue and not shag the whole install.
Bro, just install Debian.
>>108874795Horosho Vlad, whatever you say.
>>108877039debian is dying
So what's the answer?
>>108878398gentoo
>>108873248If you truly need gayming, you're better off using Fedora. Plain old Fedora. As solid and retard proof as Mint, has all the bells and whistles you'd want for vidya, isn't a meme like Arch. Nobara, Cachy, Bazzite, all of those are FOTM memes that got created because people are too retarded to realize everything Valve does benefits every distro so there's been this push for meme SteamOS "clones" ever since the Steam Deck launched, continuously propped up by Win11 hate as it released a year earlier.tl;dr: Fedora if you need Gayland for your fancy schmancy gayming monitor, Mint for everything else. Gayming distros are a meme and you can easily set up Mint/Fedora to run vidya from the GUI sandbox alone.
>>108873248Please just go Debian or Arch for your first time. You can't really retard-stumble into understanding how the OS works and starting off with a fork is just you admitting other people know what's best for you. You can go something like Cachy like I have now once you get a hang of shit and once you understand what they're doing differently.Debian is literally retard-proof and sets you up if you want to go Ubuntu or Garuda or some other stuff later, and gets you familiar enough to use Kali if you ever get so inclined. Debian is also very stable (lel) so the odds of you having to fix random shit is lower than average.Arch is more difficult but will give you a far better understanding of everything. Build it once or twice, then make the choice for if you're better served with CachyOS for example. Nobara is a hard miss, and Bazzite is for handhelds. I used stock Arch for about a year and when it came time to wipe my OS I just went with Cachy because cbf.Honorable mention for Fedora because also a retard-proof but I can't say I've had much in the way of use with it, so do some research and YMMV. Bonus points in that you get a baseline understanding of RHEL if you ever need to use that.>>108877047Source: Meth.
>>108873248Don't fall for fucking memes. Every single distro is the fucking same. The only difference is what gets shipped out of the box and how the terminal is used. When it comes to performance or whatever, they all, literally, function the samePick one that has long time support and has the easiest console commands to use. I'm not even joking. Do NOT listen to any of these morons in the thread. All distros are the exact same

>>108873248I imagine you want gaming casual browsing etc. If you are an absolute beginner, stick with Bazzite, it breaks less.Otherwise, use CachyOS if you're somewhat competent with computers as it gets better performance (usually). There is a fairly high risk of things breaking with updates in CachyOS.You could also always ask the syndicate, Dindu ;-)
>>108873248I went with Novara as noon and am happy. Lots of GUI tools for everything, gaming stack preinstalled and pre configured with proton GE and so forth. Also not immutable like bazzite so no weirdness regarding that.Just go with KDE not gnome
>>108879631>There is a fairly high risk of things breaking with updates in CachyOSDoes CachyOS even handle Arch Linux manual interventions? Pretty sure it doesn't.
>>108879704>Nobara is a hobby project, independent of Fedora and Red Hat. It is intended for personal use, not for critical production environments>Nobara is a hobby project>Nobara is a hobby>hobby

>>108879709>Does CachyOS even handle Arch Linux manual interventionsAre you being sarcastic or don't even know?It "handles" them by getting the user to check for updates and resolving any conflicts. Getting CachyOS up and running is easy, but whoever uses it should be comfortable with pacman.
