>The company now uses two market platforms: Data Center and Edge Computing.
>NVIDIA says this change “better reflects its current and future growth drivers.”

All hardware that isn't Data Center is now under Edge Computing, everything, PCs, cars, geforce revenues all of it.

They also made $81.6 billion Q1 in profit.

AMD did similar when Gaming became Gaming and Client pooled into one.

Where were you when Gaming was kill?
>>
There is something so unsettling about calling everything that is not a data center an "Edge" it makes you think of "Fringe" like a data center complex surrounded by the endless slums of the permanant underclass. At least a consumer has the connotation of having a choice or options. But when you're at the edge, you are just stuck there, you will never be one of them.

We'd need dozens of heroes like Luigi to even just fix this level of industrial corruption
Thousands to fix the world assuming no one even more crooked will replace the fuckers

Kinda surprised the ‘system’ hasn’t made sure that enough games exist to keep the goyim placid.

you're in your 30s and still playing video games? grow up

IF the bubble bursts and they tried to come back crawling to gaymers, gaymers would just open them with open arms no questions asked. They would just forget about all this.

You'll be lucky to be an 'edge' or 'fringe' to them instead of soon to be refined nutrient paste

Funny Leather Jacketman hasn't been your friend in a decade. Congrats on finding out now?

>BUT AMD IS DOING SIMI--
Yes, but they at least offer a fucking GPU that isn't 8GB in the year of our lord 202X.
>>
>>108875199
>"Edge"
Totally agree. I hate to see that word, like owning a computer is something secondary only to datacenters.
>>
>>108876758
As opposed to what? Boycott them? If no good alternative comes up by then it won't be an option - people will upgrade when they're forced to by shit they want to play. And AMD certainly aren't going to unfuck themselves either.

It's odd how people just make things up to get upset about.

Because of things like the switch and lower level console/"homeentertainmentsystem" nobody will need to upgrade their systems for a very long time. GTA6 is expected to need 6gb of vram.
>>
>>108875199
Wait so is geforce now factored into their edge sales or their data-center sales?

I wonder how sustainable datacenter is going to be, even if you can argue AI isn't a bubble, datacenter almost certainly is.

Nothing original about crying over made up fantasies. If you don't understand why it's called edge computing, then you shouldn't be on the tech board

Who cares, gaming hasn't been relevant to Nvidia since 2010, and no good games since then either so why bother gaming anyway.
>>
>>108875051

This has been long coming.
Since the 1000 series Nvidia has increasingly focused on building an enterprise product that does gaming on the side.
In last year earnings gaming was about 8% of their revenue and it's getting smaller by the year.
Give it 10 years and they won't even produce gaming GPUs, as iGPUs are going to be enough for 90% of the population.
Only reason why they'd even keep the gaming side around, is just to have the public mindshare via most powerful gaming cards.

>>108876710

That's because the system got completely fucked by it's own poison and is now beyond incompetent.
>>
don’t intel and amd make GPUs? why do we need nvidia?
>>
>>108875051
Gaming has never been a real industry. Sure for a time it had a purpose, but that purpose was to rob nerds of their money and put it into real, data crunching work. You know scientists, people who study and have real lives.

Women were right. Gaming is the lowest form of Hobby.

I'm unironically thinking of selling my main GPU (RTX A2000 12 GB). Besides local AI, what do I need it for? I play GTA Vice City, ET: Legacy, PCSX2, Unreal Tournament '99, Streets of Rage 4, sometimes Half Life 2 DM, all of those can be handled by the CPU's iGPU lmao.

We simply don't need a beefy GPU to play good games anymore. We can own no GPU and be happy.

PC gaming is dead though. and I guess it's very convenient for these companies to sell to console makers, since they can mass produce in batches, knowing beforehand that they will sell fixed amounts of GPUs.

on the other hand, they might try to reverse course if/when the LLM bubble bursts.
>>
>>108882033
>PC gaming is dead though.
Nothing to do with gaming. They just can't have you running local models so they're gonna cut down on consumer-grade GPUs. That's all.

The integrated GPU on my Ryzen 7 9700X can't play anything, it's way too weak.

Does anyone else find it weird that a toy company became one of the richest and most powerful corporations in the world overnight because their tech that runs their children's games happened to be good at running chatbots?

Where the fuck are all the GPUs going?? We know the datacenters aren't being built, so where??
>>
>>108882054
that might be a reason, but also most revenue in gamimg comes from phones, then PC, then consoles these days.
even Valve is trying to sell portable devices.

nvidia has never been a toy company. graphics is serious business and has always been. AI has also happened before in the market back yonder twice. the valuation of them is the invaluable amount of art they have delivered. maybe, there is too much computing in the US compared to survival? but nvidia isn't that much toys.

Gaming is a fun hobby. For me it has actually lead to other interests that I thought I never had. For example, I got into wood working just because I wanted to build myself a custom gaming desk. Though, gaming shouldn't be someones only hobby and I'm fortunate that I have a few other ones.

>>
>>108876710
They don't have to keep you placid anymore. AI's actual innovation is cutting out the consumer.
>>
>>108882173
They aren't being made to begin with.
Chip fabrication is a limited resource and they used the unfathomably large pools of monopoly money sitting in hedge funds that could literally buy everything in the world several times over to instead buy out the entire chip production capacity to make cards that are only useful to data centers.
Those cards are currently sitting in a warehouse somewhere waiting for a datacenter.
>>
>>108875051
Reminder that all of (You) did this by buying nothing but Nvidia for the past two decades.
I have zero sympathy for gamers. (You) created this AI hellscape.
>>
>>108882935
Reminder that all of (You) did this by failing to provide any alternative to Nvidia for the past two decades.
Anyway no, it has nothing to do with gaymers. The problem is CUDA vs OpenCL. OpenCL was a broken piece of garbage plus it was slower than CUDA. Thus, people used CUDA, which meant only nvidia GPUs could be used for compute.
