I am finally moving into my own office space in a house, and i have gotten it down to two desks

A nice, heavy, solid chunk of wood desk

Or an electric height adjustable standing desk, where i could have a walking pad under it.

Does anyone here have a standing desk? do you actually walk?
>>
I got this setup but I walk like maybe 5 times a year on it
the height-adjustable desk is still worth it though. Just for easily getting it the exact height you want, for various situations.
Mine let me save 4 presets, so I have one preset for sitting normally, one preset for playing with my controller (it's a bit higher to make space for my hands on my lap), one setting for eating at the desk, and another setting for standing in front of it.
I probably adjust it like 5 times a day

isnt that desk height way too low for her
>>

It's also extremely stable, so no worries about that.
However, there is one thing I don't like:
When I drive it all the way to standing mode, after not having done so in a while, it absolutely STINKS of machinery lubrication. It makes me feel nauseous and sick, it's probably unhealthy too.
But this only happens when I move it all the way to the top after not having done so in weeks, not with regular use. When that happens I now get a hairdryer and blow it all out of the window, because it works.

>Or an electric height adjustable standing desk
get this but without the stupid walking pad.
I wish I had a standing desk at home because at work when I get a little bit tired I just stand up and am fresh again.

I have a friend who bought the walking tapis roulant thingy, He said it's too hard to type on the keyboard while walking and returned it. It's made for HR stacies who only talk and use the mouse sporadically
>>
to be clear, this is the exact desk i am looking at

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/ergolux-electric-dual-motor-standing-desk-180-x-80cm-blackblack-ergolux/

and i'm a step counter, this would be used often, especially in winter with the rain here in coastal Gippsland

so yes i can use it to watch a youtube and get my 10k daily steps in
>>
I'm too uncoordinated to walk and type at the same time.
>>
standing desks are placebo
if anything, standing all day is bad for you
just get a decent chair with proper lumbar support
>>
>>108880592
Only true if you're just standing still at the desk rather than walking
>>
>>108879615
It's a woman. Don't expect too much. Probably that laptop camera angle makes her look the best or something.
>>
>>108879674
bro just go for a walk outside. its free and better for you and you can listen to youtube videos while you do it anyway
>>
>>108879595
i had a walking desk, i loved that thing when i read documents and watched videos, maybe some light writing.

Standing desks are a MEME.

sit on the floor instead
>>
>>108880592
but sitting all day isnt bad?
>>
>>108881094
not really
>>
>>108881116
i see. i thought there was a very substantial amount of epidemiological research on it
>>
>>108879615
That’s okay, she’s not really working or using the computer anyway. These are not concepts women can grasp.
>>
>>108879595
Yes and yes. It's hard to actually type while walking, even slow. I only use it with videos and other slop.

Buy a used one, put your own slab on top if you want. Mine is a Frankenstein made from three different models with a workbench top. Works like a champ and was in the $200-300 range.

being sedentary is mostly bad
if the choice is between sitting all day and standing all day, sitting is better for your back
>>
>>108881158
>>108881094
Sitting down is about the same as standing up. The studies about sedentary lifestyles just use sitting down as the most obvious baseline activity. The entire standing desk craze started because people basically read that and since the studies didn't show that standing up was bad for you. it most not be bad for you. Its a great example of people getting tricked by marketing and just committing fallacies on the go without thinking about it.

shooting from below up your nose is the bad angle
>>
>>108881224
Standing desks are still nice though, ignoring all health requirements. I raise mine when I'm moving around a lot, so I can just walk over to my computer. Cleaning under them is easy. Cable management is easy. And because it was such a fad, you can get them cheap compared to a good desk. I got a solid wood one for the same cost that a cheap new Ikea desks would've been.

from what I read maintaining the same posture for a long time is bad, switching around every 10-15 mins is better for spine health. Unironically trying to maintain pic related for hours at a time is a quick way to develop back issues
>>
>>108881288
this is why sit/stand desks are good, they encourage variation. even if you literally never stand at your desk they're still superior due to finer height adjustments. dont understand the hate for them
>>
>>108881402
Don't confuse /g/ lurkers with people. They hate anything that is remotely popular because it's popular.
>>
>>108881288
Fuck public school.
>>
>>108879595
women shouldn't be allowed to wear sneakers
>>
>>108879604
>I got this setup but I walk like maybe 5 times a year on it

same except replace 5 with 0 lmao
i even bought a chinese walkpad i never used
but luckily i finally got into fasting and it works
>>
>>108879595
I'm actually on my walking pad right now. I don't use it as often as I'd like but getting some steps in a few times a week is nice for my back
