Don't buy anything other than IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T, X, and W/P Series if you want the Real Business Experience™
Other business laptops are welcome in /tpg/ (Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook)

In https://rentry.org/concisewin10 I found:
>WARNING: A lot of OEMs label their own bloatware (like Lenovo Vantage) as drivers. Be sure to double check what you download (search the internet!) and avoid these programs (unless you intentionally plan on using them, but they often prove to be an unnecessarily heavy load on your system resources, and some of their features can be done by other programs that are free and more lightweight, so do your own research and weigh your choices carefully).

Is Lenovo Vantage that bad? I like the battery conservation mode it provides. By setting battery charging treshold you can stop charging your laptop's battery when laptop plugged into a power supply, preserving battery lifespawn. It also provides drivers and BIOS updates with one click.

What's your thoughts, is it a bloatware? So far I didn't see any ads.
>>
>>108888190
It isn't as bad as some others, but it's still another background process that you might not want especially on older hardware. You can set the battery thresholds outside Windows or uninstall it after setting them, since they're stored in the EC flash.

Why do you keep shilling thinkpads now that framework exists?

Do you guys reckon that the newer xx90s and T14's an newer models will last as much as the xx40-80s have? Or do you feel a decline in durability for the time you have been using the newer ones?

Yeah you can.

You can get those on Amazon for a reasonable price. I got a new X200 battery and it worked fine.

Trackpad buttons and more ports
Middle button trackpoint scroll is way more effortless than two fingers scrolling

What's the best distro for a T430 at the moment that doesn't comply with the shitty ID verification and systemD garbage?
I was thinking of choosing between:
>Void
>Artix
>PCLinuxOS
Which of these three would be the best? Especially if I want it to be pretty lightweight and want good support for Proton for older games (i.e. Half-Life and TFC)

Just build a fork yourself, what you not a man?

Thoughts on the X13s Snapdragon?

any 14 inchers that stay cool and quiet and have a decent battery life? I need something to take to classes it doesn't need to be very powerful just enough to handle web and ms office type stuff
>>
>>108901329
Budget? I'd recommend a T14 or a T14s (gen 1).

>>108888973
the modular usb c ports are just glorified dongles
my x61 has more ports than that and its smaller

I have a framework, but have been unhappy with it recently so I'm going to buy a thinkpad.

I'm curious about that too. I'll check out Void and Artix at some point.

Also can you lads dump your Thinkpad setups with animu girls? I need to start saving them

>Budget?
I forgot, about 200-ish euros would be nice but I'm open to any recommendations
>T14 or a T14s (gen 1)
these seem decent, is there any noticeable difference that I should consider or should I just get the one I can get for a better price
>>
>>108905364
I just bought a gen 2 T14s and I'd just watch out for the privacy screen. I doesn't hurt brightness that much, but it kills viewing angles. They also have a pretty big power range; I5's trought i7's and AMD's of all flavors.
>>
>>108905364
T14s has fully soldered RAM, a smaller heatsink and no ethernet port, but 7 Wh more battery capacity and a nicer feeling case

If you didn't buy everything you need for the next decade five years ago you're not gonna make it.
