>>108890245Development on mac is surprisingly frustrating from my experience. I'm sure it would be easier if I learned all the quirks but that's the same as with Linux.>"ERROR: bash shell is outdated">app store filled with scams/knockoffs with the same name instead of what you want.>.zshrc? or .bash_configuration?>library directories fucked up since Catalina
>>108890329>Development on mac is surprisingly frustratingNo fucking wonder it’s frustrating if you don’t even know if macs have bash or zshYou’re gonna go into autistic rage if you ever figure out that the copy and paste shortcuts are different, too. Maybe stick to windows, it seems more your speed
>>108890245>that bulge
>>108890396>No fucking wonder it’s frustrating if you don’t even know if macs have bash or zshYeah that's kind of the point lol. On one mac it was zsh but on another it wasn't. I thought the appeal of macs over linux machines was that they're all the same?
>>108890245Silly OP, you aren't supposed to "spend time" on compiling. Just start the compile, the machine will handle it, and you can go do something else. What are you even doing, sitting there like a robot, just watching over thousands of lines of gibberish scroll by faster than you can read them?
>>108890438>On one mac it was zsh but on another it wasn'tmacs switched to zsh as default in 2019that’s 7 years agolike come on nowthey do still have an ancient version of bash, but nobody ever uses it
Windows does handle software installation in the most convoluted and retarded way possible. It's not that bad on Linux. It's mostly the same situation as mac: if brew/linux package manager installation doesn't have it, then you have to compile from source anyways. I've also had to compile from source on Windows. Often it boils down to developers being lazy and not wanting to compile it for you. Or maybe they're gatekeeping.
>>108890245perky...
>>108890577there was no zsh and it was bash version 3 even though Tahoe was installed. Macs aren't as easy and low-maintenance as people imagine.

How to install software in Linux (with AppImages)>download AppImage from developer's websiteThat's it.
>>108890939>development environment breaks after an update>apparently because a dependency now requires bash 4>MacOS Tahoe machine still uses the ancient bash 3>have to install bash 4 via homebrew and manually override the preinstalled bash with hacky environment variables.Yeah no thanks, not using your shit OS.

If so then it would make sense as to why they wouldn't want to package his software by default with their systems.
