isn't it funny how cell phone battery technology basically plateaued right at the level of 1 daily charge + 3-4 years of life for most people? it's not even all that new, the nokia 1100's BL-5C has been out for two decades.

you may argue that Si/C has been a breakthrough, but at the cost of lower lifetime cycle counts. and aside from a few chinese brands almost nobody puts them in mass-market devices. a $100 phone has a 5,000 mAh cell just like the $1,500 galaxy ultra whatever. hell, even the eSIM iPhone Pro Max is just under the 5,000 mAh wall.
>>
The innovation has been in charging speeds.
Recent (Chinese) phones can be charged back to 1 day battery life in just 15 minutes.
It's like recharging a flashlight in lethal company.
>>
Because 5000mah is easy to produce for virtually all form factors of phones, and at 18w charging doesn't get customers complaining IT DUN TAKE 2 LONG TA CHARGE! 5000mah will more or less last the vast majority of customer base a full day.

It's like complaining why do cars often come with a v6 and not a v8, shit works fine as is for most people.
