Omarchy
>just slow vibecoded pro-Israel versio of Arch with bloat, advertised by Jews

CS grad here. Only know a little Ruby, not my favorite language personally, but I do like Omarchy. Haven't had any problems with it, I love the look and feel of Hyprland and I've even done a bit of customizing in the config files. It's definitely a step up from LARBS, which is what I used before Omarchy. Maybe it's because of a lack of experience with different desktop environments, but I personally don't mind having an opinionated distro. Not a fan of AI coding tools, so I don't use them, but aside from that, some of the choices of applications that come with the distro, and the fact that push-to-talk on Discord doesn't work, I don't really have any complaints about my experience with Omarchy.

Why nobody makes Preconfiged hyprland distro that just werks with minimal personal tuning

Something about using a random guy's personal dotfiles for your own setup feels very cucky.
Like you might as well start sucking his cock at that point.

Also the name is retarded.

>if you're new to Linux, skip omarchy and install a real distribution - not some guy's personal dotfiles.

How is it any less of a distro than other distros? it has its own repositories with its own distro specific setup with distro theme and its own distro installer. The workflow is a custom omarchy specific one. Meanwhile distros like kubuntu are just ubuntu with kde instead of gnome.

idk why any of this is supposed to be a bad thing? seems like the biggest "sin" being committed is claiming to be a distro when it's basically just arch with an easy installer and stuff preconfigured. but idk, that's basically what manjaro and endeavouros are but i don't see people bitching about those in the same way

the idea that this shouldn't exist because it takes away attention/funding/etc from the poor debian maintainers is absurd, you could make the same argument about any distro. and the third point isn't some gotcha that needed any amount of thinking or investigating to discover, having an easy entry point to linux and hyprland is like the core mission statement of the project. if you want to argue that this is bad because linux should be gatekept from normies, then that would make sense even if i don't personally agree with it, but acting like this is bad because people will download this instead of something else is retarded. if debian wants to cry about omarchy making more money, then maybe make a better product instead of starting some online protest

Big cope!!!
>>
i've been using it for a month and it's alright. first thing i did was uninstall the shit i would never use like discord. some of the concepts like "web apps" seem stupid to me but whatever, not like it's intrusive. the 30 seconds it took me to get rid of the shit i don't like was definitely less time it would've taken to set up hyprland on arch from scratch. and even that wouldn't have been a big deal, but not really any reason to look up the steps when installing this was 0 effort

the saner way to do omarchy would be just writing a yaml file for this

Retard here. I love product. Not had any issues with it. I love the look and feel of product. Maybe it's because I'm relatable and just like you, but personally I don't mind using product. I don't have any complaints about my experience with product.

>opinionated linux
use case?

>>108901560
He's saying he wants a preconfigured set of hyprland files, and that he wants to have to add only a minimal amount of tuning after that.
He types like a dumbass, so it's not surprising you couldn't parse his meaning.

Honestly, Omarchy is great IF you like Hyprland and Arch. You can install it inside of 10 mins, and 5 mins after that go through the Omarchy menu and remove everything that's been pre-installed except for Hyprland, waybar, walker, nautilus, terminal emulator and the tui programs needed for system configuration like networking, bluetooth, mixer, power management, etc and the Omarchy specific configs and theme hooks (with one extra script you can make the entire system theme-aware so all you have to do is drop a color palette into a toml file, and the extra script will generate all of the necessary css files from templates to apply your color palette across everything - btop, chromium, waybar, discord clients if you use them, gtk and qt apps, all of the tui apps that don't just inherit your terminal emulator colors, etc)

All of my machines run Omarchy with pre-installed software removed because it's otherwise a really nice Arch system that just werks, and when I see a theme I like, I just type `omarchy-theme-install` followed by the git repo, and it'll pull the theme files, install and apply them right away. I am 44 years old with a career and social life, having a distro that works, stays the fuck out of my way, and looks nice while doing it is invaluable to me.(Picrel: my desktop)
