Linux aside, I think it's a pretty terrible language to read, write and think about. I feel that way about most functional languages but Rust is especially bad. Simple functional languages are ok, like OCaml and Scheme. But bloatmaxxed C++ replacements like Rust are an abomination.
Also, it's being crammed down the throats of systems programmers. One of things I liked about systems programming was that I felt like I was protected from the incredibly poor design of out-of-control web software style development. Rust shatters that illusion and I resent it.
I remember thinking I didn't need to retire because I could just go on writing C forever. Now I see the industry is going full speed ahead towards everything being vibe-coded Rust slop.

Rust is a poster child of suffering for no reason. Almost no software needs this tinkering with borrow checker and would do just fine with a GV and when not - manual memory management would be just fine. I would understand it if suffering was because the code is extra-readable and elegant in the end, but it's the opposite of that, usually.

I mostly mean conceptually especially with how memory safe it's designed to be. There are some absolute shithouse design choices tbf. Error handling is one of them. I think Rust came out just before the complete trannyfication of software development took hold of it.

If you wanted sane people to use rust then you should simply hang the tranny crab mascot, axe the coc, and let devs who believe men cannot become women submit contributions.
