why is customization even an option when unironically the desktop (Windows, Gnome, Mac) just werks? everyone using KDE has the most jank ghetto setup on the fucking there's a million options yet none 90% of them aren't needed when i just want to navigate my computer

KDE is so retarded.it looks nice from a distance but when you actually work with it, it's dogshit. I switched to xfce on FreeBSD and it just werks.
>>108907192>i hate choiceBuy a mac then.To me windows is dumb slow ass clusterfuck with ads and spyware, bottom line unusable. In comparison, kde is vastly superior in performance and productivity.Mac OS is a joke with terrible UI.
>>108907349i've used kde, xfce, gnome and windows. kde wins by a landslide. maybe what you say was the case during the plasma 5 days of papercut bugs. nowadays plasma feels pretty solid and when you compare it to losedows' vibecoded slop UI it's just not a contest. it's over. maybe mac os is more streamlined but i ain't touching an apple device ever.
>>108907192I know it's hard for a child like you to comprehend, but a lot of us grew up with Win9x and XP, and they all were customizable. Should I really give that all app just because the (((FAGMAN mafia))) hates soul? I won't.>t. lxqt user who switched away from kde because of nate graham and valve
>>10890849898 and XP were more usable than Plasma.
>>108907192KDE is the only usable DE. Everything else is trash except GNOME which is good for grandmas. xfeces, lixsqtrannyballs and window tiling managers are all memes.
>>108909257>usable>krashes
>>108907192>why does birth control even exist? i dont need it, my boyfriend cant get my butthole pregnantor alternatively:>stop liking what i dont like!
>>108907192This. GNOME just works.
I use gnome on my laptop and KDE on my desktop.Default gnome is decent, but I have a few issues with it that the developers probably wouldn't even recognize as issues and aren't easy to fix (without side effects) with extentions. E.g. the monitor brightness slider not working on external monitors or focus on mouse hover instantly stealing back focus when I alt+tab.A good default can be like 90% there for the people who are willing to use the thing in the first place, and I think gnome defaults are close to that. However something truely nice to use requires a shitton of options that are each individually useless for most users, but allow everyone to pick that the crucial few that fixes the issues with their particular usecase.KDE defaults are clearly weaker than gnomes, but all that easy customizability allowed me to slowly iterate it into a simple and functional setup that I'm overall happier with than gnome. Yes, gnome offloaded the customization to extensions, but a large part of them breaks on every update and when you use a lot, they tend to break each other. Also, in the name of simiplicity they somehow managed to split the options gnome does have into three separate applications.
>>108910494A buttplug "just works" but youre a fag if you use it. Same thing with Gnome.
I'm using KDE and macOSAutomator takes a shit on it Dolphin has no file tagging worth a shitCan't even search for files on the file picker unless it's the same folder, it's kinda ridiculous
>>108907192I'd use GNOME if its devs weren't retarded.
>>108907192honestly every time i riced plasma i ended up unricing it the next dayi do wish it had a scrolling mode its the only reason i keep niri and plasma side by dise
>>108907192It's not that I love KDE, it's more that it's the only real alternative if you want a full featured desktop environment that isn't borderline deprecated.I would love to use Gnome, I actually like a lot of their design language, but it's clear very few devs actually use the DE themselves.
