Going to set up my desk like this, and hand a photography backdrop on the wardrobe with over door hooks.Advantages compared to the opposite setup I had the past 5 months:>will be able to open my door>will able to access wardrobe with feet on the ground>will still have a clean backdrop>can fully open window without it hitting my desk
>>108915234Using this desk frame, I should have 15 cm [ (80 - 48.2) / 2 ] of desk top over hang over the bed, since legs are narrower, so I save space (taken into account in simulation above)
>>108915234>hand a photography backdrop on the wardrobe with over door hooks.*hang* I can really tell people are jealous / mirin my clean white wall background during video calls at the moment, instead of their disgusting pleb messy room background / glitchy crappy virtual background. Only tangentially related but some of these pics have gotten me thinking:How retardedly uncomfortable would it be to get a Sofa Bed and ditch my normal Double bed in order to reclaim some space in a cramped room?In my head I could get a bigger corner desk for my setup with the space I take back but my main two concerns are that they'll be uncomfortable as shit, and when you convert it into bed mode you need to take back some space anyway.

>>108919226Yes I got a golf ball sized cyst removed from my ass crack
>>108915245This desk frame is for heavy duty up to 300 kg carry weight. The desk top doesn't look that big though it would make sense if you want something like 40 mm strength hardwood. If you want to have some sort of cable management and maybe a monitor arm with a clamp make sure that things fit. Sadly the measurements only show how far apart the legs are and not the bars in the centre as I've seen this desk frame myself and on other pictures they look bigger than the legs.
>>108915661At a previous apartment, I had a desk that backed up to the long edge of my bed. It was super convenient.Spent a lot of time laying in bed playing games. (I was in a neet phase.)I had two of those Asus 16:10 monitors, using them on the stands they come with. Instead of getting monitor arms, poles, etc, I ended up buying some cheap lazy susan bearings on Amazon.Kind of tricky to set up. If a stand was off axis from the bearing's center of rotation, when they're facing one way, no gap between the monitors. But when you spin them, now there's a gap. Also, when you rotate them, the logical layout of the monitors changes. The shared border that used to be in the middle (where the mouse cursor warps from one screen to the next) is now on the outer edges. But with Linux it's easy to write a short script to change between layouts, and run it from a keybind.Pretty jank setup, but it was cheap (<$20), and I have fond memories of it.
>>108919551Heh we came to the same conclusion. The case is aesthetic and gets nice temps for an matx with the stock fans, but putting in the GPU was tricky where only 1 specific angle fits. But now due to life's circumstances I have a small desk and barely fit the case on it, looking at a CH270 now lookin pretty
>>108919775Does not compute what you mean. All measurements are there. I have this frame. Waiting for the top. I opted for only 20mm thick oak (1600x800x20mm) because it's more ergonomic than 40mm. If it ends up warping, so be it, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
>>108920302I wanted to get this one too but for an actually huge desk. Are the two beams that hold the centre really only 482 mm apart like the legs? The pictures always make it look like they are closer to the 76 cm
>>108920710Needs more monitors.

>>108920545>>108923714>>108924274I built a 2500mm x 720mm and it works well. It's for two people is why it's so wide. No reinforcement and no sagging. You can do a simple beam deflection calculation rather than guessing whether there will be sag or not. Get the values for your wood (Young's modulus? I forget) and plug it into an online calculator with your dimensions and predicted central weight.https://www.omnicalculator.com/construction/beam-deflection(Simply-supported beam, midspan load, then your values)If you're using butcher block (which you plausibly are for such a large desk) it's actually a little stronger than regular wood. Glue is stronger than wood.Make all your worst case scenario predictions (100kg dead centre, values for plain wood not butcher's block) and in my case it was still within spec, then build it.You can get hairpin legs that hold well. Welded steel is strong and you can find places that will give you the weight rating for the legs. You don't need stainless, just coated. I like clear coat. Just make sure they match or exceed the weight of the tabletop plus stuff (they bake in a margin anyway so don't sweat it too much).Works out fairly cheap this way too.You can get big pieces of butcher block from kitchen worktop companies, and they'll offer to oil it or round off the sides if you don't already have the tools for that. I think the whole thing was around £600 for me for a walnut top, including buying a drill, which is cheaper than I found a similarly sized desk anywhere else.I recommend using threaded metal inserts to attach the legs. It'll already be a massive pain moving it around. Make it so you can detach the legs if you ever want to move it again. Only adds about £20.Maybe it's not particularly relevant for you, but I found this stuff out and didn't find it all in one place anywhere, so I am infodumping in the hope someone finds it useful.
>>108924274Anon here with the 300kg frame. Regarding top, I actually sized down now. I ordered an oak top (should have higher strength than mdf) of 800x1600x20mm. It's on the thin side, the next step up is 40mm which I considered, but it would be a compromise on the ergonomics aspect. And the whole point of a motorized desk is ergonomics so that wouldn't make sense. I have long arms, so if the desk is too thick, my elbows are blocked by the desk and then this leads to a chronic shrugging of the shoulders and upper back tensionTheoretically I expect it not to warp
>>108924308Why are you so lame and rude

>>108925468I have a 25mm strength MDF top with a desk frame that has a single beam. It probably wouldn't sag after reinforcing it but my speakers and stuff are heavy. Oak and the desk frame with two beams should be better and your top is 40 cm smaller than mine so you should be fine but maybe play with the calculator the other anon posted.
