Gaymers accepted the end of personal computing when they decided to rent their games from Steam instead of buying them
>>
>>108920854
This isn't valve. this is the whole industry.

There is no AI bubble. that is just an excuse. The goal is to price you out of owning your own devices so they can sell you cloud computing as a solution. Agenda 2030.

It's still cheaper than buying all of the Sims 4 DLC.
>>
>>108921398

Thousand times this. I can play Game Boy games from 1987 on like 2 or 3 different devices because I’m not locked to Gabe or his stupid iTunes for Gamers UI.

Is not the end of computing, its the rise of butthurt poorfags

cloud gaming is the future

You're comparing pirated console games to legit PC games, it's a really insincere comparison

You guys do know that tech used to be incredibly fucking expensive, right? Look at the price of any low end personal machine from the 90s and adjust the price for inflation ram getting more expensive because of basic supply and demand economics is not the end of computing, the market will stabilize and the trend is still "more computing power for less" as time passes

They were already making a loss on it. If this helps them finance the Steam Frame then I'm all for this. That's the only product I care about buying from them any time soon.

Online gaming will never work on portables unless you run miles and miles of fibre alongside every public road and railway with 5G+ masts all along it.
>>
>>108924207
Also, you'd need to get all of the airlines that haven't bent over for Elon yet to do so and put Starlink in their planes because what use is a cloud dependent gaming device on a plane in the clouds without Internet.

Cloud gaming will never work on portables. We have the technology but too many tight arses to deploy the needed infrastructure everywhere.

>This is the end of personal computing
not really, new plants are being built in usa and taiwan for some years now and will finish in a couple years with even more being built to finish in around 4-5 years. It's temporary. Eventually we will hit peak compute and any innovations resulting in optimized compute usage will also quicken this pace. There is a finite compute need because there's a finite number of people. Subscribing to this doom and gloom is dumb as hell. Especially when what is being affected is still purchasable, and is a luxury product you don't even need. These threads are really just sad because it's people who have no idea what they're talking about looking at short term impact with no understanding of the problem at all beyond surface level information fed to them by people who aren't even involved either.
>>
>>108924360
And what do you do when you're in a place with crap signal?
>>
>>108924370
>will finish in a couple years
Bullshit. It takes at least 5-10 years for a plant to become fully operational.
>>
crying about not affording a game console is peak consumerist brain rot. the consumer hamster wheel is alive and well

If this were an iPhone people would be out in the streets protesting.
>>
>>108924373
yes, you're right, they won't operate at full capacity for couple years even after being built but building started a couple years ago, my point still stands. this issue is actively being solved.

PC gaming is a celebration of mediocrity.
