I believe I'm going to die soon my health is very poor and I don't take good care of myself or my health issues properly, this post isn't about thatI'd like to have my writings published unfinished somewhere in the case I die before I finish them, you can say "lol no one is gonna read your bullshit" and thats fine, I just don't want them to vanish inside my computer once its resold and wipedAre there any places where I can schedule the uploading of files, without them being accessible until the time runs out? lets say I set them to release at january 1st 2027, I'd like it to not be accessible before then, and for me to be able to cancel that upload in case im alive still to update itI know twitter for example has a way of scheduling posts, is there a way to do that with google doc or another website for posting files?
install gentoo before you go out
>>108930958Of all the things in the world I could do with my remaining time, installing linux again is the least likely, I used Mint for a year and hated it
>>108930988really what did you not like about it?
I mean you pretty much already solved your own problem and you don't even need any tool for that. Just post your shit somewhere that allows for scheduled releases and manually adjust the date in case you're still alive. Once you're dead you can't adjust it anymore and the platform will publish your writings. Done and dusted.
>>108931009I (used) to work with video editing, and it not having premiere or after effects really fucked me over>Just post your shit somewhere that allows for scheduled releases and manually adjust the date in case you're still alive.Where? again as I said I only know of twitter, I'd rather not depend on a platform that shits itself all the time thats why im asking for a better place, but if there isn't a better place then yeah i should make a twitter account again and use it for that, my plan would be to schedule a post with an unlisted pastebin for example

I'm sorry to hear that, anon. I hope you turn it around and get your health on the right track. There are dead man's switch services online. I imagine most are meant for passwords and financial documents. You could also put your writings online but encrypted with something weak against quantum attacks. You could call it something enticing like "crypto_keys.tar.gz.enc". When good quantum computers come, I am sure something will scan the internet for crackable files and try to crack them.
>>108930936you can make a free wordpress account, make scheduled posts and just edit the publish date over and over again until you die
>>108930936at least try using AI to counter your health problems. it cant kill you if youre already going to die. its basically a free biochem think tank
>>108931643What do you even mean by this?
>>108931650https://theconversation.com/a-man-used-ai-to-help-make-a-cancer-vaccine-for-his-dog-an-oncologist-urges-caution-278735depends on your health problem but think outside the box. if you have nothing to lose then you have everything to gain.
>>108930936Yes you can set publication dates on various platforms (also on some email services and what not).IMO there is no ideal solution that can be 100% trusted to work and for increasing the odds it may be better to also leave a trustee (maybe in your family, maybe hired, [...])
>>108930936I'm guessing you're a Billy-No-Mates if you havent got a friend or family member to do this. I'll do it for you, $500 should cover it

>>108931854Wow...
>>108930936I have a website. The beautiful thing is that you can use a sync service like Spideroak or just plain rsync to keep the files up to date while you are writing and continuously publish to the website.Always remember to back up in threesOne on your websiteOne on someplace like AO3Another on a blog that is not going to go away in the next ~10 years like wordpressWhen you're about to go or you stop updating, have a dead man's switch (which could just be a cron job on your website that asks you if you're alive still, and then sends mail if you do not respond within a month or so) that sends an email to relevant parties linking these resources.
>>108932448>>108930936Also if hosting a website on your own domain seems intimidating, try instead for a hybrid approach, such as neocities. You don't have to keep a fancy website updated, and you can just link to the files uploaded there for free
>>108930936Publish them anonymously now. Problem solved.
>>108932485>>>108930936 This is an option too. Publish them on the internet archive anonymously and attach your name to them when it looks like you're nearing the end
You need a scheduled publication that you manually reset/postpone every so often, if you die you dont reset it and it gets published
>>108930936I've given a lot of thought about this and your honest best bet is to have someone do it for you when you die. You can use an attorney and a will and leave a deposit + contract to make sure it happens.
>>108930936Encrypt. Upload (with redundancy). Then you 'deadman switch' the key upon death.
>>108930936Put everything on a blu ray disc and get your solicitor to keep it alongside your will. Stipulate in your will that the contents are to be uploaded upon your death.
