Anon, the Free Pascal mascot is a cheetah.
Given that you now know this, give me even one (1) valid reason for why you are not using Pascal.

I may be interested in the Pascal family, but I don't choose software based on mascots.

No real advantage over C.
>>
>>108931216
What is Pascal and why is it free and what's the use case for it?

ugly and retarded language design
procedural syntax like Lisp and C are always good
>>
>>108931216
I started using ‘Pascal’ family languages with Ada and VHDL, and don’t really need to change.
>>
My first job in 2016 was in Delphi and Lazarus.
Really hated the language, but now when I look at it:
> The UI (with Qt widgets) was really simple to build and integrate with the code.
> Software was easily compiled and ran on all relevant platforms: Windows, Linux, MacOS (x86 and arm)

in 2026 no other framework can do this so easily

flutter ?

lol lmao kill yourself

Tcl/Tk solved this in the ‘90s and early ‘00s, but then retards went to incredibly slow Java Swing.

>Software was easily compiled and ran on all relevant platforms
barely an achievement

because I use and love JavaScript too much and we have a cool mascot too
>>

That is not the js mascot. That is the lisp mascot with the balls cut off.

I'm using Pascal/Delphi on a daily basis in my job and I hate it with a passion. It's the fucking ugliest language I've ever seen in my life.

retard
js is basically lisp but with its front half cut off so it's funny
>>
>>108933481
>js is basically lisp
no it's not, C looks more like JS than fuckiong Lisp
>>
>>108931216
too wordy. writing "begin"/"end" gets old fast.
forced variable declarations before the beginning of a function block. I want to declare variables wherever.
ancient crust of a standard library, if I ever have to see {$I-} AssignFile Reset {$I+} again...
unnecessary distinction between "function" and "procedure".
interfacing with c code is pain.

this is why I don't use pascal, and instead use d and luajit.

I needed a tool to highlight text from screenshots and make annotations for my job, since I didn't find one that I like it I made my own with lazarus. It is a 3mb executable that I can jus copy to any other Linux PC and I can compile it and run it in Windows too.

JS creator was a Lisper you gigaretard.
