We aren't waging war against them or against other primates because they might become a threat one day, realistically they won't before our sun toasts earth anyways but you get my point. Again too insignificant and space is really vast. If an advanced civilization just wanted to hide it'd be pretty easy. The best we can hope for in terms of life detection beyond our immediate stellar neighbourhood is detecting stellar megastructures so don't build those and you're golden.
