Most /g/ users are now too young to get this joke

I can confirm

there are like three things that are possible to terminate:
scsi
token ring
tv antenna
>>

Honestly I hated this shit, there were always conflicts and one drive could not appear, especially CD burners. This is one thing I do not miss at all, SATA was so much better in every aspect.

zoomer trannies love retro PCs THOUGH

So many people were filtered by those jumper pins.

Shit was enraging with cheap tweezers and twitchy hands. Glad that SATA took over shortly after I got into PC hardware.

Right, there's 3 groups of ppl who dislike master/slave terminology in tech
> those whose ancestors were enslaved
> those who think it might hurt somebody's feelings
> those who had to manage multiple ide drives

All that squirrely shit, like when Plextor finally bit the bullet and started releasing IDE drives but they ran like shit if they were the secondary device. Good times.

Now do SCSI on Micro Channel bus.

it's cool blud.
The joke relies on a bait-and-switch between human races and computer hardware terminology.

The first part — “There are only 2 races, the master race (Germans) and the slave race (everyone else)” — imitates a racist/Nazi-style statement about a supposed “master race.” This is intentionally shocking and offensive.
The punchline — “Unless of course you use cable select” — suddenly reveals that the speaker is talking as if the world were an old computer.

In older IDE/PATA hard drive setups, two drives on the same cable had to be configured as:

Master
Slave

Or, instead of manually choosing master/slave, you could set both drives to Cable Select (CS), where the cable position determines which drive acts as master or slave.

So the joke is:

You think it's making a statement about human racial hierarchy.
The mention of cable select abruptly shifts the context to old computer hardware, where "master" and "slave" are technical device roles.
The absurdity of applying hard-drive configuration options to human society is the punchline.

It's essentially a nerd/computer joke that uses a racist-sounding setup and then resolves it with an unexpected reference to legacy PC hardware.

Most /g/ users are too young for a driver's permit. But they speak with the confidence of an F1 driver.

I could have had a drivers license 7 years ago but I still haven't gone ahead and figured out how to go through the process to complete the necessary prerequisites, bureaucratic procedures, and tests and where to do so.

What I never got was why some CD drives had an audio output on the back and a freaking volume wheel on the front.

I think this should clear things up.

There really should be a fairly realistic driver sim that they should install in DMVs for this kinda bullshit.
Driving is the one of the few required skills in modern society that requires you to depend on someone and their vehicle. This could've been solved 30 years ago.
>>
>>108946242
it's solved in Europe
>driving schools if you want a loicence
>public transport if you don't
