Which way, white man?
>>

I only know gimp and I only use it to draw retarded memes now and then. What's the other?
>>
>>108943006
Right for quick and casual use
Left for extra specfic autistic work

Neither, they both lack fundamental features that I need.

I'm already using Affinity.
>>
>>108943090
Umm.. I asked both Claude and Gemini if this has AI features and they said no?... how do you even use it?
>>
>>108943006
between the two GIMP if you need a deep featured program. Paint.net if you need a simple photo editor.
>>108943078
but this anon is right.
>>

it just works…

>Paint.NET has finally acquired the domain paint.net because the previous owners decided to host malicious links referencing paint.NET so they lost the domain in a trademark infringement and domain squatting case
fucking finally

We have photopea everything else is shit lol.
>>
Paint.NET 3.5 runs on Wine, is better than nothing.
>>
>>108943407
Holy shit, I finally no longer have to say "get paint.net but from getpaint.net, not from paint.net"

I'll take anything over GIMP, I'd rather draw on paper and then scan it than use fucking GIMP it's mindboggling something this dogshit has not only been made completely unironically but that it still plagues the world today
>>
Krita
>>

Gimp is way to complicated with shit tier documentation. Therefore, it is trash.

Paint.NET.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paint.NET

Problem is that it's only made for Windows, but you might be able to run it in Wine.

why didnt they make microsoft paint but with handful more features that people most commonly use

people want to open an app that opens instantly and does the internet forum things like resize image without it being fucked up
>>
>>108943006
I moved to gimp because it's better for processing scans with the fourier plugin
>>

As much as I'd like to drop photoshit for good, csp doesn't have CAF.
>>
>>108943006
i use linux

gimp is so shit that i create my own image editor that behave exactly like ms paint and i call it mspaint.exe
>>
>>108943095
Affinity was the patrician choice until they switched to a freemium/subscription model last year.
I'll continue using version 2 until it's utterly dead.
>>
>>108943006
>>
Wait, gimp still can't do a circle? Is this a fucking joke?
>>
last time i used paint.net was over a decade ago
but i remember it better than gimp
it probably still is
>>
>>108947498
at this point, they must be doing it out of spite
>>
every time I see these threads as a linux user it tilts me because all I want is literal microsoft paint, don't even say kolourpaint
>>
Paint.NET
>make a selection
>automatically can be transformed and moved after selection
>push escape to clear selection
No other editor does this which is so fucking infuriating.
>>
>>108947690
Krita is as close as I can get to Paint.NET and I've gotten used to it over my time with Linux. I still miss PDT because it was far easier to use, but I'm not inhibited by Krita.
>>
>>108943006
I still can't believe that paint.net does not run natively on linux after all these years. Even the 3.x version is crap as it sometimes crashes unexpectedly using wine. I just can't make the jump to krita. I'm not white tho.
>>
>>108947659

I just use JSPaint online. Almost identical experience.
>>
>>108943006
can you draw circles with gimp yet?
>>
>>108947494
saxo with impregnation and later birth
>>
>>108943006
pdn is superior for actually editing images in the 99% of cases people actually have (quickly balancing color, creating or removing transparency, etc)

>>108947494
sexo but that is a drawing program for use with tablets to make art from scratch, not the same sort of image editor pdn and gimp are. people who use those to straight up draw are psychopaths
>>
>>108943006
paint.net is only slightly better than mspaint. it doesnt even support layers. on the other hand it can draw circles unlike gimp. so idk
>>
>>108948565
>it doesnt even support layers
What the fuck are you talking about?
It has had layers for decades

Depending on your particular needs, you might be able to use Pinta on Linux instead of messing with Wine. Some of the code is from Paint.net, which makes many plug-ins compatible with it.
>>
>>108948380
paint.net is author's pet project for playing with all the newest windows apis.
wine is not hurrying to implement them just to support a single program ever.
>>
>>108943006
SAI Paint Tool
>>
I unironically love that to draw a straight line in gimp you need to first read the manual. "How do I quit vim" type shit, it's' great
>>
>>108943434
what is the exact version number that works with wine? I use pinta but would still be nice to have it on my pc just for the sake of it

What if I want to draw a star or an aeroplane like I can in fucking Photoshop 7.0 anon?

GIMPtards have no excuse to not just add a basic draw shapes tool and your retard-grade alternative is just extra steps and less functionality.
>>
>>108949948
Photoshop 7.0's "shape tool" is literally just vector paths with pre-baked presets. You want a star? Draw it with the Path Tool and save it as a template.
And why the fuck are you even using GIMP for vector graphics anyway? Use fucking Inkscape.
May all your family be struck by lightning for your brain-dead retardness.

I'm still mad that Paint.NET devs delete their older versions of the program.
It's nigh impossible to find specific version because those retards just wipe everything and nobody is backing them up.

Latest point release, 3.5.11 it seems
https://forums.getpaint.net/topic/107374-installing-pdn-under-wine-in-linuxmac/
The advise here uses PlayOnLinux but that shit is dead, you can also use Winetricks, dig around the thread someone did it. It's been years.
