What speakers are you rocking? Post a pic of your setup or ask questions about speakers and monitors here.

As for me I'm considering a pair for q acoustics 3050c with a Fosi za3 and a s3 streamer to stream wifi lossless audio from my PC.

Would love to know if anyone has experience with these components or would suggest something even better?

Also interested to hear about how you chose your speakers for your office/lounge room/ listening room.

/g/ is generally retarded with regards to high end audio other than headphone shit, unfortunately.
Currently rocking Ascend Acoustics CMT-340SE2s and a Rythmik FVX15 hooked up to a Denon X3800H.
Eventually planning to upgrade to some PSA MTM212KTs and maybe some 21" subwoofers if I ever find a bigger house to buy.

oh I see, I sort of considered my setup pretty budget as it comes out to about 1400aud (850usd?) because the 3050c are on special currently. wouldn't go super high in pricing because I like beyond a certain point there's definitely minimal gains.

whoa a 21 inch sub sounds insane. didn't even know they existed
>>
>>108946838
My setup is jbl stage a130, fosi v3, svs sb-1000 pro, motu m4. I tried streaming to a raspberry but the latency was just too poor, I need speakers for everything, not just music.
>>
>>108947266
was the video going through the pi? Def's not strong enough for video encoding I think
>>
>>108947354
Just audio.
>>
>>108947370
oh strange. maybe a wiim or an s3 would be a better option

Jamo E850s I found at a thrift store for a couple hundred bucks. Paired to a Klipsch R12SW sub. They sound pretty great but are a little too small for the room I have them in.
>>
>>108947712
what sized room do you have? do you think 6.5 inch drivers would fill that room?
>>
>>108947722
I live in an absurd old church converted into a home. The main living area is 50x30x30ft.

Probably nothing short of PA speakers are going to do a good job in here, but given that issue the Jamo's do surprisingly well. Soft furnishings help a lot with reflections but it's still a minor nightmare.
>>
>>108947784
ohh that sounds cool, but i imagine it also gets cold and a bit damp in there?
my listening room is only 6x4 meters so i dont think i will have any issues with sound treatment once the couch and rug go in, or maybe i will, who can say. at least the roof is slanted nicely
>>
No one really "listens" to music anymore. It's just distraction noise now. The average person is fine with a mono bluetooth speaker with a 100-10000 Hz frequency response and 10% THD.
The only music listening I get to do anymore is in the car, or in the kitchen on a pair of Apple Homepods. Sad, huh?
>>
>>108947903
a little bit yeah, i guess some people just treat it as background noise but i love just sitting down and enjoying music

I was in an electronic store the other day and there were those huge ''partybox'' for ''parties'' and they are just big mono speakers...maybe they were always a thing but I had never seen them before. For the price you could buy a good stereo setup, which you will enjoy much more

I got the old 3050s and they are fantastic, go for them anon.

My AMP is the Yamaha A-S701 and a Sony CD player. I don't use a streamer since I got a small mini pc in my living room connected to my media server, so I play from there or Youtube. Very happy with my setup.

Topping DX9 Discrete DAC, Topping LA90 Discrete Amp, KEF LS50 Meta passive speakers, KEF KC62 sub. I previously had an Edifier setup with speaker and subwoofer. The quality difference is there especially the sub but I'd argue for most people the Edifier setup is plenty for a desk at least but I'm happy with my upgrade.

Look into Tangentsoft, it's all based on his STEPS and PPA2. The PCBs have been custom created by me and manufactured by JLCPCB.

One thing that’s killing this hobby for me is that Spotify sounds significantly worse than cd.
I need to upgrade my streaming service I guess
Though I think the goal at this point is to archive flacs

Thoughts on studio monitors? Are they actually good for listening to other stuff other than music or should they only be used for audio professionals?

Been hoping for a thread like this. Last year I finally figured out headphones and this year I wanted to figure out speakers for my computer desk. But I don't sit at the desk I sit in a recliner with my ears about 5-6 feet away from where the speakers would be.
Bought some cheap AIYIMA S400's just to test it out. They sound better than my built in tv sound but not that much better and for some reason they sound much worse in video games. If it's just tv they sound fine but in a game with lots of action the sound kind of blurs together.
I did some research and the best upgrade I could find for my setup were these Kanto YU. I need powered speakers because I don't want to get another amp I was going to use the one I was using for my headphones. Do you think these would actually make a noticeable difference and be good enough to hear things correctly while gaming?

I need speaker stands like this but in the 20"-21" range so I can put them behind my monitors. These only go down to 26". Any suggestions?

>>108953377
I used to have a pair of hs8, they were way to big for the room but sounded alright in the loungeroom when I moved them there. I think it's worth keeping in mind that they aim for a sound that can be fatiguing to listen to, at least in my experience
>>108953457
if that's a metal tube a saw or angle grinder would make easy work of the lower tube and make them shorter to whichever height
>>
I currently have some really cheap Jamos that do the job but aren't amazing.
When I get some cash in I'm planning on getting one of these systems that a local business makes in house.

I get my speaker wire from Bunnings
>>
>>108953986
I don’t get why this is so controversial?
The only reason you can laugh is because 6 hair thin strands of mostly pure copper actually creates a pretty decent connection already.
>>
>>108953991
>Bunnings
If your cables aren't platinum titanium uranium quadruple coated and cost less than $926 per foot, they are worthless. Make sure the wires are octo-wound, are gold plated, and are at least 16 nano ohms per cubic inch resistance! or you are wasting your money.

oh that's fair. if there was a brand in my state I'd go for it, but instead I'll just buy from addicted to audio I think. I did look into diy since I have a woodworkshop but idk enough about speaker science and I don't have the time to learn it rn

Wiim has 50ms latency even wired lol, this industry doesn't care about latency.
>We've reduced the latency to 50ms for 176 kHz / 192 kHz audio via SPDIF-in and Line-In
I shudder to think how high it was before.
>>
>>108954123
oh damn that's fucking shit. apparently the fosi s3 has 10ms latency which I don't really get how it's still that high. I'm so up in the air between getting the fosi s3 or a za3 (yeah I know they're totally different use cases) and just going wired with my MacBook air as the source
