So I bought this motherboard to set up a second pc with simpler specs than my main workstation to run things like Tails on...

Anyway, when I was hardening the bios like disabling on board lan and wifi and things like that, i noticed two settings tucked away in there... Bios Protection and ME Protection..

I set both to 'disable' and booted into Parrot and right away installed flashrom and did an internal check... All three bios, spi and me regions were all unlocked!

So i did a dump, modified the dump with hexedit to flip the ME HAP switch to Enable, then reflashed the modified region while still in the same session and rebooted..

Intel Management Engine HAP Disabled within 5 minutes without opening the case or using a CH341A programmer all within a single session!! And that's on a 14th Gen Alder Lake Motherboard! Unheard of!

To disable the ME on my primary Z390 motherboard, it was a total fuckaround with CH341A programmers and multiple PC's with multiple OS's, this was so fucking easy and so unexpected! I should probably email the CoreBoot guys and express my findings, maybe they can work with this board for current gen setups?

When I saw those bios settings I got a stiffy and knew I was firing up flashrom instantly and when I saw those regions read/write, I came!

The motherboard model is a 'Maxun H610 666 DDR4 ARGB'

It costs 80 bucks and is a total unicorn!

Just sharing :)

Removing IME/PSP bricks the Event Timer inside the CPU. This means you cannot trust the system clock or any values.

Ngl they got an interesting board, saw one with NVME support for ivy bridge shits.

Tempted, but still chinky

that's really cool, feds btfo

what about coreboot

This board isn't really to run a 120w cpu. You'd put a 35 or 65w one in here, so yes those vrm's will be able to max it.
>>
>>108949257
it should be able to max a 120w cpu, i dont know how lga 1700 phases are distributed
the big intel cpus are what 253W stock?

Disabling Intel ME is an act of cyberterrorism against the only democracy in the middle east (the worst crime imaginable).
It's scandalous that a device with it disabled is allowed to go online. This is why we need attestation for the web.

why do trannies hate vga so much

Unless I have an absolute junk monitor from the 2000s at no point am I ever forced to use VGA. All my old monitors have a DVI port.
Even for DVI I use an HDMI->DVI cable
>>
>>108951012
some monitors only work correctly with dual link dvi
you need an active adapter for that, and they're generally shit
>>
>>108951068
Dual link DVI on mobos hasn't existed for awhile

Coreboot lives inside the motherboard. The timer is inside the CPU.

Good for you anon, i use RGB with Serial and PS/2 :)))

Doesn't 14th gen stuff burn its self out?

Yeah their hate is puzzling me considering VGA data is fluent and not binary
