I have an old pc and I don't want it to be e-waste so I want as a project to have triple boot>Windows 10 LTSC>Linux Mint probably>Hackintoshthe specs are>i7-3770>HD4000 or GTX1060>ddr3>HDD500GB or 1tbShould I leave the igpu better than the GPUI would do it in VM but I don't want to leave it as e-waste I found it in the attic, if there's any other cool projects like server wise or whatever the fuck lemme know for now I want to triple boot it
>>108950882Triple/dual boot makes sense only for a desktop, it's a waste of space for a server running 24/7.Installing Hackintosh is a fucking nuisanse, even with open core siplify. Installing modern loonix on old hardware does not make sense, unless you intend to use HDD instead of SSD. Even then still, it makes more sense to have XP/7 on it if it's a desktop machine. Not a bad idea to have a bunch of old pirated software on it. For a rainy day in the dark distopian future.
>>108950917I do have a desktop, and I want to try hackintosh I'll sit down in my spare free time and do it, I intend to use HDD either 500gb or 1tbI also want to try Windows 10 strictly because of virus testing and such
Oh and a server on 2012 hardware make little sense, unless your elecricity is literally free. Calculate how much it would use in a year, then see for how much you can get used hardware that is at least 5 years younger. It can be something like old intel-based macminis, they idle pretty low in headless mode. Or someones SBC, people buy those and never use. If you can get one for cheaper than what your old junk would burn in electricity alone, then it makes sense to get an SBC and trash the old dinosaur.>>108950942HDD and win10 or fully updooted win7 do not go well together. It is also a huge nuisance.I personally would use my old hardware purely to store old stuff, from previous era of computing, pre cloud and AI bs. Everything else seems like a waste of time money, honestly.
>>108950967I'll only use W10 to test programs I'm unsure to put on my W11 machine, I will not daily drive it so I don't mind waiting minutes to test, I'd rather wait a lot than blow my trusted W11 machine upI'll use Winhawk and such to get rid of bloat
>>108950882>>HDDso unfortunately>Windows 10 LTSC's fat ass will take ages to boot and be really unusably slow, like at least ten seconds before reacting to anything.>Linux Mint probably's fat ass will take over two full minutes and a half to boot but it will be unusable. Why not Windows 7?
>>108951961Cause Windows 10 has almost the same anti-virus built in like 11 so the programs I want to test will be more the same.I don't care about how fast it runs, previously I've used a much much slower laptop and it worked okay, I just need something a bit faster
>>108950882you could just run any headless linux server on it and sell the gpu (useless unless you want to use it for decoding but itll waste energy if you dont need it)
