I really fucking hate that you have a buy an expensive as fuck 220 ppi monitor with a non-standard resolution like 5K at 27" or 6K at 32" if you want to have an external monitor for your MacBook (any modern one, not just the picrel) and not have blurry text or too large UI elements. Why the fuck can't Apple fix it? These monitors are magnitudes more expensive than regular 4K 27" or 32" displays. Fuck you Apple

Works on my machine.

Non 220 ppi is suboptimal for macOS, which is not how I want to use my MacBook.

they can of course fix it but want you to buy their shit. Just buy a 25 inch 1080p DELL Monitor for 30 bucks from an office sale. It werx

it’s not Apple’s fault windows users never began, generally to appreciate 1440p but with 200% text zoom
they’re all playing games and running Office in 1080p at 240Hz at 100% text zoom
>>
It's a bigger problem with mac minis because you need an external monitor
I use betterdisplay to improve this situation but apple can't handle shit with displays. They can't implement an option to put a fucking monitor to sleep if you have multiple connected. They can't support the max refresh rate on most monitors. They have this thing where if you set your refresh rate to 120hz instead of 60hz, some animations slow down, it's funny as fuck.
Meanwhile we're all shitting here on stuff like X11 and Wayland when they support lower than 5k resolutions better overall and the only annoying thing Windows does is have some really old applications look blurry with scaling.

It's not a bug.
You're supposed to buy 5K display for your Macbook if you need bigger screen. Ebussy did.

GNOME buckled under pressure and now has fractional scaling so it didn't work so great did it

??
a magnitude would be at least 10x. $1,000 instead of $300 for a 27" monitor is not a magnitude.

Didn't GNOME actually say something like this unironically when GTK 4 just came out and all the text was blurry as fuck until you set the gtk-hint-font-metrics to true
>>
>>108954489
2K is good enough for mac scaling. dont be such a crybaby
>>
It'd be alright if the font rendering wasn't awful and if apple supported this thing called increasing font sizes globally.

2k aka 1080p would be 1x. macos dropped subpixel antialiasing almost a decade ago with 10.14 mojave and wants you to use a retina display.

https://retinadisplays.com/ has been making the rounds among apple people
seems like a decent site

I use a ROG Swift with mine, works fine. Only issue is waking it up from sleep is janky, have to hit Esc twice at the right cadence. But that's it.

If you a broke boy just say so

I have a 27 inch 1440p normal monitor

Dunno what the fuck you people are talking about, I've used many monitors with my Mac and they all looked and worked good.

>2k aka 1080p
If 2K is 1080p then what makes 4X the resolution of 1080p??
